I suspect it’s mostly a couple of things.

[li]The entertainment business is much more hit-or-miss than most fields. If you want to become a lawyer or accountant or similar, then there are many opportunities open to you. None of them as glamorous as movie stardom, but that’s exactly the point - no one opportunity is as much of a big deal as in the entertainment industry, where successful opportunities can be big big make-or-break deals, either making you a huge star or leaving you waiting on tables. In this situation, those who can provide these opportunities hold much more leverage over the eager hopefuls than is the case in more mundane fields.[/li][li]The entertainment business is much more sexualized than overall society generally, in that’s much of what’s being “sold” there, to one extent or another, and this spills over to the lifestyles of those who work in it.[/li][/ul]
Dude… come on now.
You can’t really believe that something so insidious is restricted to “just a few bad apples”. Sexually predatory behaviour in Hollywood is as old as Hollywood itself. It’s an institution at this point. It’s like thinking that corrupt cops are “just a few bad apples” that aren’t indicative of a broader problem within the police force.
