Artwork is fine, comics aren’t funny. But it wasn’t painful like Ziggy, Family Circus, or that freakin’ Rose.
He thinks he’s set her up perfectly for a “that’s what she said” joke, and she doesn’t want to say it because…humor? Not sure.

I think the joke is more supposed to be that we’re to interpret the panels of silence with her eyes narrowing as her waiting for him to comment on the innuendo of what he said with the implication that she disapproves and then the reversal is that she is just as amused at the innuendo as he is.

Yeah, I really don’t think women will find these funny either. The artist is a woman, sure, but a very unfunny woman. Maybe a 12 year old girl might like this? I don’t know, it’s been a long time since I was 12, so I don’t know what kids find funny anymore.
Given the depth of the comic, I was thinking it was a more existential humor, commenting on the hole within all our souls that can never be filled except by the sweet release of death, so best to laugh while we still can.

Ugh, I saw them on Reddit a few days ago; and all I could think was that they reminded me of those God awful figurines from the 70s that would show a little boy and girl doing something cutesy and the figurine would say “Love Is… [something stupid goes here].”

As I understand it there are thousands of comic artists out there struggling to get their work out. This person just found another nitch. To me its actually nice to see something different. I’ve long tired of Zits, Cathy, Doonesbury, Family Circus, Pearls before Swine, and others.

And here’s the one I was thinking of, which is closer to the same style. (as she has a boyfriend)
