This one almost slipped past me!
I have 8 of them, I often wear them without a suit or jacket.
European suits tend to be cut closer than American styles. To my eyes, American suits look humorously baggy.
I’m afraid no socks is a real thing. Again on the fashion-forward/somewhat-daring side of things.
Hats, waistcoats, no socks; hipster de rigueur. It’s how you know who deserves to have things thrown at them.
You could claim that your tailor is dyslexic.
And there’s the other sharp-dressed man I was expecting from this thread!
Vests are quite nice. I’m glad they’re coming back into fashion.
My hipster 30-year-old brother-in-law loves vests, and my daughter’s 20-year-old boyfriend went sockless to a prom a couple years ago. So it’s happening right before my eyes.
My 16-year-old son wore a blazing blue vest which matched his date’s dress to the prom this year, but that’s the sort of event where you wouldn’t be surprised to see a stovepipe hat if some wacky boy took a notion. I did see a boy rolling up to the prom wearing loud white shoes, completely rocking the look.
I approve of flamboyant dressing, obvi.
I can entertain the idea of wearing a vest - but no socks? No way, no how never never never.- I am definately too old for that, I’m too old too even see the point of it.
What about like at an outdoor wedding?
I have a green corduroy suit, although lacking waistcoat. I look, in my mind, pretty bad-ass, but I am sure others thing I look like a history teacher.
I don’t seem to be able to Google up a good enough image to link to, but Raoul Julia as Gomez Addams simply rocked an old-fashioned, richly ornate waistcoat.
You’ve ruined a perfectly good jacket.
