Are we doing what we are supposed to do?

My question is just that…are we as earthlings doing what we are supposed to do? Are we supposed to have 40 hour work weeks? Are we supposed to live for 70 some years, should we be sleeping 7-8 hours a night, should we have cats as pets, have tvs and video games, were we supposed to, by the year 2000, have only made it to the moon or even gone to the moon at all? Or should we be living as primates? No houses or cars, just dirt. Did mankind progress like we were meant to? Or is there something else to life that were supposed to be doing? Should humans even exist at all? Or did something go wrong long ago and the result was a human? Are we supposed to…(you fill in the blank)?

supposed to according to whom? meant to by whom? maybe this question belongs in great debates.

Honey, get some sleep! You’ll feel better after you wake up.

Try going for a whole day without using “supposed to” or “should” or any other synonym. Then try it for a whole week, and a year, and the rest of your life. Then, maybe, by the time you die, you’ll have learned to live your life without worrying about such things.

Too inane for Great Debates, too philosophical for IMHO, and definitely not a General Question. Bye-bye.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I am certainly doing what I’m supposed to be doing.

I’m moving this thread to Great Debates.
