Supposedly this is an indisputable fact. The humor of Larry, Curly, and Moe - and Shemp for that matter - is so puerile and male oriented that no female in history ever liked it.
So are there any women who disagree?
It is an easily disputable fact. I have three female friends who like the Stooges. My brother also has knows several women who enjoy their movies. Also, we both know men who think the Stooges are idiotic and unfunny.
For the record, he likes them and I think they are boring. But then, I don’t watch many movies anyway.
I hate them but that’s just my humble opinion.

By the way I’m a girl…
I am male and I find them idiotic and unfunny. So the “indisputable fact” pretty much fails all around.
My Three Stooges gene is recessive. I can only handle them in small doses.
I’m male, and I’ve never been terribly impressed by the Stooges. Hell, they didn’t even write their own material. Laurel and Hardy, now… That’s comedy.
My best friend (female) loves them.
I (female as well) think they’re damn doofy.
So instead, we watch Monty Python.
Mrs. Dave-Guy can appreciate them, and recognize their humor on an intellectual level. Not that their comedy is intellectual, I mean she can understand why some people would think they were funny, even if she doesn’t particularly like them.
Still, every once in a while, she does get tickled by them. Not as much as I and our son, Halford the Human Eel, do. He just cracks up over them. Then again, he’s eight.
Now for real comedy, the Marx Brothers top the list.
I have never liked them. But my daughter thinks they’re hysterical.
Of course, I also find her taste in music questionable.

What’s so funny? It’s just a bunch of guys hitting each other.

I have run into very few women who liked the Stooges. For the most part though, the above is the stock response. An appreciation of vaudeville and silent movies is requisite for a full comprehension of the Stooge’s pratfalls and zaniness.
I think that they’re hilarious. And, yes, I am a girl.
Yes, and gay men are too.
Of course girls are capable of appreciating the Stooges. I love the Stooges. All three of them- Iggy, Ron, Scott…
You say somebody named a comedy team after them?

Male checking in, can’t stand them!
Maybe five year old males appreciate them, I do not.
I liked them until I went through puberty and since then I can’t figure out what’s supposed to be so funny.
I love 'em! Always have, always will. My second oldest son and I go nuts when they have the Stooge-a-thons on Saturdays. We’ll watch hour upon hour of them.
And yes, I’m a female.
Who’s “Shemp”?
On an old Dr. Katz episode, one patient says, “I know why women don’t like the Three Stooges. They’re not funny.”
I agree. Never found them funny in the least.
One of my best friends in the world, Amanda, thinks they’re damn near gut-busters. I think they’re okay. I can watch them if there’s nothing else on (and I mean NOTHING else on. Like it’s a toss-up between the Stooges and the Preview Channel. I’d watch the Home Shopping Network first).
