Are wool caps now a new fashion statement?

I dunno if this belongs in GQ, 'cause it probably has a factual answer, or maybe CAFE 'cause it is related to fashion, or what, but I’m gonna ask here and ask for forgiveness if I’m wrong.

Last night I was at a bar and there was a guy with a blue wool cap pulled down low so that you couldn’t see his ears or his eyebrows. At first I thought that maybe he was undergoing Chemo and had lost his hair, but he had a goat-tee and I figure if you lose your hair, you lose it all. But maybe not. It was very hot in the bar, so I can’t imagine he was needing it for warmth.

Is this a new fashion trend? He was lookin’ kinda silly to me, but hey, I don’t know much about fashion…

Well it’s not “in” for me. But i have seen a few of them around here and there.

do you mean beanies?

I’m told that wearing winter hats when it isn’t winter is a fashion trend started by snowboarders.

It’s a fashion statement.

Sadly, the statement is “Look! I’m Mike Nesmith!”

No, please G-d, no!

BWAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHH!

Yep BlueApple, that’s what he was wearing. From your link, the second from the left on the second row.

I gotta say that he really looked silly to me.

Maybe that means I’m officially old? “In my day kids didn’t wear wool caps unless it was cold out!” :smiley:

Aww, I was gonna say that!

::pouts::

:wink:

Eeek! Another accidental smilie! Yup, colon-smallcase-p will get you a :stuck_out_tongue:

One of my knitting maillists had a big discussion of these a while back… at least a year. They called them “London Beanies”, and supposedly they were a fad started by David Beckham. Here’s afree knitting pattern.

I see these things all over my area–middle Gulf Coast Florida. I suppose the snowboarders here are anxious to be identified. Yesterday, with the temperature in the low 80s, I saw a guy wearing one AND a padded, fur collared, jacket. One wonders.
