Are you a divorced kid?

I was 5 when my parents divorced. It was a good thing for all involved, although it sucked at the time.

I recently asked my mom how they told me – she said “Well, after I moved all of his stuff out onto the front yard and told him Tuesday was trash day, I don’t think there was much left to tell you.” For some reason, that really cracks me up.

I was eleven.

1 or 2. growing up like that, it boggled my mind when i would go to a friends house and BOTH parents would be there

Mine split when I was eight, not the nastiest divorce I’ve ever witnessed (that belongs to my first girlfriend’s parents), but still pretty ugly, and they still bitch about the other one some 25 years later! I was the only one still living at home when it happened and I’m the only one of my two brothers who isn’t married.

Me too! Growing up, me and my sister’s best friend also lived with just her mom and visited her father on weekends (just like me and sis). Geez, I thought that’s how normal families were set up, and seeing a dad occasionaly in a different friend’s house was just freaky.

I was five.

Haven’t seen my father since.

6 months, and I never saw my biological father after that. But a year later my mom married another man, and that was my father till he died when I was 34.

My parents are currently in the throes of separation, but the way it’s going I could be 24 or 40 when the divorce is finalized.
