Are you a Male or a Female?

I have kept my gender a secret on the SDMB for 11 years. I will never reveal it!

Duh.

I am a guy, and you are all very silly.

That is why I like it here.

Unless it is pertinent to the topic being discussed I see no reason to care about what gender people think I am. So I really don’t care much. If I’m mistaken for the gender I’m not I don’t get offended because with just text there is no way for anyone to know.

Of course, I prefer however people choose to refer to me to be non-insulting, but I’m under no illusion I can command that, either.

That’s crafty, man.

Before or after my sex change operation?

My mom had 4 boys and no girls.

I’m happy to be a dude, but from time to time people misunderstand my username and assume that I’m female (in which case, I point out, I’d be Elendil’s Heiress).

She’s a doctor!

That she knows of!

Wouldn’t that be the same either way?

Aren’t preop trans sexuals usually called by their preferred gender?

I have no idea T. I was just kidding. I didn’t vote and skew the results. I’m wondering the same thing? What are you called and what are you really…

I have a couple of friends with boy parts that think they are woman and now have girls names. Once you go under the knife and get new parts you may look like the other sex but your DNA will always say male or female.

I’m a she. I’ve been referred to as a he several times over the years. I’m not sure why. It doesn’t bother me but I usually do correct people when I see it.

Are you born a she or are a man made she?

Born a she. When I said “I’ve been referred to as a he several times over the years” I meant here at the Straight Dope by people who haven’t met or seen a picture of me, not in real life. I’m not a girly girl, but I don’t think anyone would mistake me for a guy in real life. I should have clarified that. smile

There is a thread currently running in Great Debates concerning that subject. This thread is only about how posters want others to refer to them gender-wise.

I’m a girly girl in an older woman’s body.

Me too

I am a male, and prefer to be referred to as such.
