Are you done shoveling/blowing snow for the winter?

Ditto. I’m also in the northeast, and we’ve had… one or two storms that melted quickly? It’s way to early to be sure we are done, but we are also past the typical snowiest time of year, without much snow.

We’re done, I’m almost certain. We live in the snow belt between the Great Lakes. Usually see a lot of snow. Occasionally a remarkable amount of snow. We did get a couple of wicked storms but they were short lived and now past. And while it was 7 degrees Celsius today, this evening is going down to -11c.

But I’m pretty confident we won’t shovel snow again. I’m not complaining!

The snow is falling. Weather reports indicate an Alberta clipper is coming through.

We’re not done yet, apparently. Possible snow later today, and more in the coming week.

Well, this is Canada, and it is still only February, so I guess it is to be expected.

In addition to the crocuses, which are almost done, I’ll probably have hyacinths blooming by mid-March.

Us as well. This morning I heard somebody scraping their windshield. Normally that would be happening every day for weeks on end. Can’t remember the last time we really had enough to both with.

I may have seen a mosquito yesterday in my kitchen. It’s February.

We had one dump of snow in early December (19 cm, I think), which was really wet, which was followed by some days of sub-freezing temperatures. We had the same in mid-January, but only about 12 cm, and it didn’t get as cold. We could get another dump in March/April/May - it’s happened before.

Hubby mowed the grass at the end of December, because it was that warm and dry, and the grass needed it. It’s getting close to needing to be mowed again, but it’s not quite dry enough.

I’m in central Switzerland. For those who ski, it’s not been a good year. The amount of permafrost is continuing to decrease and there are ski resorts at lower elevations which decided to close permanently because there’s not enough snow. Many ski resorts are dependent on artificial snow.

After having a record breaking snow total last snow season, this time around my husband has not had to use the snowblower at all. I think he may have scraped a small amount of snow off of the deck and patio a couple of times. Our lawn is bare other than a few small patches of snow here and there. We’ve had a non-winter winter. Not a single snow storm or blizzard. It’s supposed to be 53 today. We’ve had a lot of high 30s, low 40s all winter long. We had one week of below zero temps with windchills in the -20s. BUT, March is usually one of the snowiest months so I wouldn’t be surprised if we get dumped on. At least at that point it won’t stick around for very long. Last year we had snow storms way into April. It was the winter that wouldn’t end.

Snowing hard right now. Of course the driveway is completely thawed, which makes plowing challenging.

Umm… What? It is sort of easier for me to plow when I have a good base of snow. I’m not plowing gravel that way. I guess that’s what you are saying?

No snow on the driveway, just wet roadbase. Yes, much easier when it’s frozen with a base of snow!

Just got back from biking in shorts - 70F. Got a dusting on the lawns Sat, but I’m comfortable that, even tho we will get cold snaps, I will not be blowing/shoveling again this winter.

Winter snow warning here now. National Weather Service says10-20 inches by tomorrow night.

Colorado Avalanche Information Center says 13.5 inches. Bahhh. Still have all of March and April.

This morning it snowed fairly heavily for an hour or so, there was a lovely layer of white on the ground. An hour later it was gone with a bright shining sun.

School break usually involves cross country skiing, skating, snow shoes. Now we’re thinking it’ll be muddy hikes and maybe more museums. We are renting a cottage on a lake - I’m wondering if it’ll be thawed enough to kayak (yes, I have cold weather gear in case I capsize).

I don’t trust this though. I’ve seen snowfalls well into May and even June that needed shovelling.

Drove home through a mini-blizzard and tried to plug in the car (block-heater) and discovered that it’s been so mild recently, the snow was melting as it fell, then dripped off the hood onto the plug, and then when the sudden cold snap came, the water turned the plug into a nice little icicle.

I think we’ll just have to hope the car starts without the block heater in the morning.

I was thinking, damn, you’re one hardy dude, but maybe I’m the only one who read that as ‘minus 70F’?

A few weeks ago, when New York got a big snowfall, we got a winter snow warning. Totally missed us, not a single snowflake.

Yeah. This forcast seems correct. Predicted 5.7 inches by 6am. We have about 6 and more to come.

Well, in our region at least, nature has run amok, so the honest is that it is anybody’s guess. We were at 75 degrees yesterday, breaking a record for a third consecutive day, and we are going to have the warmest February in recorded history. Yet, a cold front so powerful that the wind chill will be in the single digits is going to hit us within a day. Some places will have snow and will have to shovel, but it will not be area wide.

Tomorrow we’re supposed to go from 61ºF at noon to 19ºF that night. Yes, wind is expected. They seem to expect the precipitation to come at least mostly as rain.

Here in Toronto, Environment Canada predicts 14 degrees and raining on Wednesday, and -1 with a chance of flurries on Thursday. Then back up to six above and sunny on Friday. In about 48 hours, that muffled explodey noise you’ll be hearing is the sound of my sinuses turning me into Louis Del Grande in Scanners.
