Are you handing out candy this Halloween?

I’d love to have kids come by, but I live out in the country, so it won’t happen.

I participated in a trunk or treat event tonight at a local church and it was a lot of fun. Most of the people giving out treats had gone to a great deal of effort to decorate their cars for the occasion. One was a shark, and one was decorated as the Mystery Machine from Scooby-doo. There was also food and several bouncy houses. The kids had a great time.

Ditto, except I see at least 300 tykes. I love it! I set up a firepit in the front yard, wear a costume, put spooky music on and have a great time.

Peanut M&M’s are my treat.

Not this year, but when I do have my own house it will be known as the house that gives out the king size bars

Me and my friends never ever did any shenanigans to that guys house or yard as we grew up. We also never saw these people outside except for Halloween but their house was very nice with nice cars etc. I think it was a wise investment on their part.

We are new to this neighbourhood (and town) so we have no idea what to expect. There are a ton of kids in the neighbourhood and a lot of houses have decorations out so I am asuming it is going to be busy. I have a ton of candy to we shall see tomorrow!

I’m giving out candy and rubber mice. We got around 65 trick-or-treaters last year.

Nope, too poor.

Our city does trick-or-treating on the Saturday before Halloween. We got ZERO people last night; didn’t see a single dressed up kid all night, anywhere.
Except our 11-year-old. :stuck_out_tongue: Mr. Tao took him around the complex, and apparantly he WAS the only kid out there; he brought home a ton just because people gave lots, since there was nobody else. :stuck_out_tongue:

I give out candy, but only reluctantly so that the little shits in my neighbourhood don’t firebomb my house.

I think the kids are cute, but I have a real issue with some of the parents. I rant about it every year - there’s a real gimme, gimme feel to Halloween here, with parents pushing infants in strollers asking for candy for the baby, or kids just trying to scam an extra treat ‘for my sick grandmother’.

I last about an hour, then I blow out the pumpkins and pack up the leftovers and turn off the lights.

Other/no. We live in a small (55-unit) gated community (very common in S. Florida) so we don’t expect kids from outside the community to trick or treat here.

Our first Halloween here, there weren’t a ton of kids living in the neighborhood and we didn’t notice many/any lights on, so we assumed the kids who lived here would trick or treat elsewhere. More kids have since moved here, but I don’t know whether any of them trick or treat here.

Several years ago, a group of our friends started a tradition of going trick or treating in one friend’s neighborhood, where people are really into the festivities. We have a potluck dinner first, and we all contribute to the candy to be given out.

I bought candy to give out when we first came here in 2002, but no kids came. A couple more years of that, and, I don’t bother with it anymore.

Thanks to the storm and power outages, we have not been able to buy candy. Now there’s talk that Halloween will be postponed in many parts of the state. We have no clue if and when people will be coming but if it’s today, I probably wont have candy for them.

No, I have to work tonight. I just hung out a sign that says ‘sorry- no one home’.

It made me sad to do so. I’ve always loved Halloween.

My wife takes this stuff very seriously (I think it comes of her working at Hallmark in high school) so while I have no real interest, we will. We got about 90 T-or-Ters last year, nearly all little ones, so that was kinda cool.

No, kids never call here much anyway and I can’t be bothered.

I’m pretty sure October 31 has to come after October 30 and before November 1, no matter what the Commonwealth of Massachusetts says.

Just got a call from the Worcester County Sheriff’s office. Trick or Treating in Southbridge has been postponed until Friday! YAY!
You are correct though - Halloween is still today. However, between no kids, no candy, friggen snow, and stoopit homework - it doesn’t FEEL like Halloween. I want a horror movie marathon dammit!!

I live on a cul-de-sac street in a cul-de-sac neighborhood. The biggest year for trick-or-treating since we’ve been here involved 5 kids over the course of an hour or so.

I anticipate 50-60 kiddies at my door tonight. I’ll hand out the candy while wearing my Pilgrim mamma costume. It’ll be fun.

No. Our kids are 5 and 3 so we will both be out with them all night. Also, both of our dogs go crazy if they even think someone is walking by on the sidewalk. A doorbell ringing all night might drive them crazy.

Nope, we live at the end of a long dark driveway in a rural-ish area w/ no sidewalks. We never get ToT’ers.
(Even when we did live in a residential area I almost never did the candy thing. We’d either go out for the evening, or leave most of the lights off and ‘hide’ while just watching tv or reading. I’m not a Halloween-y person.)
