Yup, it was a slow year. We had 35 or so kids - I’d say we had at least twice that last year. We didn’t decorate the front yard nearly as much this year - maybe that makes a difference. If we hadn’t had so many kids last year, I’d say it was just a factor of our house having a big hill to climb up in the front yard (kids in my neighbourhood really earn their candy).
I checked a few times and didn’t see any movement on our block. No visitors at all at our place. Six unopened bags of fun-size Kit-Kat, Twix, and Peanut M&M’s. MINE!
I didn’t give out candy; I just got back from vacation later in the evening and I didn’t have the time or energy to go buy some. We don’t get many kids on our street anyways.
We had a decent time at the block party. I had a nutritious dinner consisting of potato salad, potato chips, and macaroni and cheese, washed down with a couple glasses of wine.
Our neighbors actually set up a projector and screen in their yard and showed The Goonies.
We had lots of little Trick-or-Treaters, and only one costumeless teen (well, he was the only one I saw). Also, a dog dressed up as a shark, or possibly it was a costume of a dog being eaten by a shark.
While cleaning up the front porch I found a bag of Peanut M&M’s. It only lasted a moment.
I never have anyone in my neighborhood and it disturbs my dogs.
If I had enough kids, I’d probably try to put the dogs in the backyard and hand out some…
