It’s like magic to be there in the morning; you’re in the forest surrounded by people from the past, the occasional fairy, and a monk or two.
Plus, you get paid. Well.
Enough to treat a little bunny or potomus to something special…

I live up in DC. So going to Texas is a bit far for me.
Only go to one ren faire a year, and it’s sorta lame. But I do SCA events… Guenelic LeLoup, at your service.
sighs Thats just it. I didn’t go to the wedding. It was in Australia and I was in Canada and I had no way of getting there plus it happened during the school year and stuff. I only got to see the pictures myself. The last wedding I was at I was about 6. Too young to chase guys.

I live in Northern VA and go the the MD Ren Faire every year. If you want to go with me and group when we go you are more than welcome to come.
BTW ** Falcon ** The MD faire starts Aug 26th and runs through Oct. I will be going many times.
Still trying to get a visual mental image of who you are. Were you at Test of Strength in the field or Sherwood forest? Two years ago I started on the Swing, then broke my collerbone during the week skating and was put with the rat games. Big fun trying to run a game and make change with my arm in a sling. Who are your cousins?
Just thought I would let you know. The theme is "gifts from the new world. The year is 1518, about 25 years earlier than usual. I would like to see a younger, slimmer King Henry to accomodate this, although he is married to his 1st wife.
I worked several years at the original Renaissance Pleasure Faire in Agoura, CA (later moved to San Bernardino). Got several costumes, but really prefer peasant for fun & comfort. I don’t know how up-to-date it is, but you can find some excellent costume pattersn, books & other resources at http://www.alteryears.com althought it looks like they have not updated their website recently. They have pattern makers for just about all re-enactment groups, including SCA, Civil War, Empire/Regency, Middle Eastern dance, etc.
Kricket, I am moving to Des Moines in a few weeks and have been looking into dress-up and play stuff out there. if you are in the area, maybe we can swap info.
