Anyone interested in a Dope-fest-like gathering at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire sometime in October? This is just to kind of gauge some interest, we can nail things down a little later. I figure a group of us could meet up at the Ren Faire, since I’m sure some people were planning on going anyways. (Well I was, I dunno about y’all) We would probably split up in various groups and do our own little things, but after the fun I had at this and last year’s Gettysdopes, it would be nice to see some people again without another year passing by.
I’m free the weekends of October 1st and 15th for a Saturday trip, and could handle a Sunday anytime in the month, I believe. Here’s the Official PA Renaissance Faire website for a little more info on the faire.
Sounds good. Ren Faire is something I’ve meant to do but haven’t. Personally, Saturdays are better, as I spend Sundays with Littlecats, but let majority rule.
The Doorseseses are going to glamorous Disney World the weekend of the 7th, so that weekend is out. Others are kinda touch and go, but we’d prefer Sundays.
As long as my schedule permits, count me in. The weekend of October 1-2 is Oktoberfest, according to the Faire’s site, and that interests me more than the Halloween weekends.
I have (or will have, once it gets delivered) a season pass to the faire…
So, barring some sort of major scheduling conflict, count me in. (possibly with niece in tow)
I’d like to come, too, but it’s a hell of a drive for me. Does anyone live in the area? Would anyone be willing to put me up? I hate to ask, and I suppose I could get a hotel…but I thought I’d throw it out there and see what happens.
No. None of us live in the area, nor can we spell the full deal beyond PA. We’re flown in from neighboring states only during fests to create an equal distribution of dopers. Email any of us and we’ll find a place for you.
For some reason, Pittsburgh is the only city on the Faire’s directions page without an estimated distance and time… weird… but mapquesting from “Pittsburgh, PA” to the Faire address comes up as about 3 1/2 - 4 hrs, ~200 miles-ish. It’s near Lancaster.
Oktoberfest you say? Mmm, beer is good. And it’s about the same distance as Gettydope, but in the other direction for me. I might be down for that. I don’t know about the rest of the Maxx Family, but I could probably osey on over that way.
Mappoint claims Pittsburgh to Lebanon is 233 miles, 3 hours 47 minutes. Dunno how far you are from the pike, the Faire isn’t that far off the Lebanon interchange at route 72.
The leper costume will probably be hot and uncomfortable. But there’s nothing quite like faking a sneeze as you drop a bit of raw chicken. “Blast! I am lozink another finger!”
I stopped by a local Turkey Hill last night, and lol and behold, I came upon coupons for the Ren Faire. There were three : $4.00 off an adult ticket, buy one get one free on adult tickets, and buy one adult ticket, get a free child’s ticket. I know that there should be other places along the way that we can get these too. I may be able to get more of these, and if anyone wants me to mail them, or bring them along, just let me know.
