Thought maybe we could do a thing like we did for the Art Fair. I haven’t been to a Rennaisance Fest since I was 18.
It starts the last weekend in August, and runs through September.
I could find a pentacle at the Art Fair. There’s GOTTA be one at the Rennaisance Festival. 
We went to the NY Renaissance Faire a couple weeks ago! Way fun! Best of all, my sister and her daughter were visiting from Hawaii, and they’re both SCA members, so they were really pumped for it.
We spent all of Saturday there, and had a merrie olde tyme!
Go for it, Persephone! Even if no one goes with you, you should go and have fun! Anyone who doesn’t want to go is just a poop head anyway. Yea, verily, quoth I.
Um, I meant I couldn’t find a pentacle at the Art Fair.
You know what’s really sad? I saw the ad for the RF on TV last night, and the first thing I thought of was “man, I’ve got to snag some Dopers and go there!” Not the husband (who’d hate it anyway), not the kids (who would LOVE it and go absolutely BERSERK), but Dopers. Sigh.
Maybe I’ll take the kids later.
Persephone, there’s pentacles and scads of other pagan-y stuff everywhere you turn at RenFest! I’ve gone three times in the past four years - it’s gotten to be a bit pricey, around 15 bucks just for the admission ticket, I think, and that’s not counting soup-in-a-breadbowl or turkey drumsticks (mmm…), but I think it’s worth the price of admission if you sit down and watch all the shows (every single one of which is HILARIOUS, I might add).
Let me think… can we try and shoot for Labor Day weekend? The boy and I were thinking about going to Chicago, but that might not work out, and he loves the whole tsarina-in-medieval-garb concept and would proably buy me a crapload of stuff there. 
Either way, keep me posted, I’ll try my best to come!

Though I would suggest holding off until next weekend to anyone who can. Its the Highland Fling Weekend. Lots of guys in kilts.
This weekend is Ale Fest or something. I’m going because I’m leaving for school before next weekend.

My S.O. and I were thinking about going anyways, maybe during the Labor Day weekend, and were thinking about getting a room there also (might be two rooms, because good chance I’ll have my kids with me, unless we go after the labor day weekend, if it is still going on). Keep me informed!
I can’t do it next weekend, because I’m in a wedding. Labor Day weekend, though, might work. It’s in the Holly area, isn’t it? I’ll have to check. I cannot stay overnight, because I just don’t have the cash.

Sorry, Persephone. I’m in Missouri again now, what with classes starting Monday and all. 
I’d love to be able to go, though. I love the RenFest and the nifty outfits I get to wear. Eat some soup in a breadbowl in my honor.
I’m interested, if the dates match up. I don’t have my calendar in front of me, though, so I’ll have to dig it up and see what works.

I would LOVE to go but…
we’ve just got too much going on in the next month. Almost every weekend is packed. Labor Day we’ve got plans, the next weekend is a garage sale, grandmother’s (possibly) the next weekend, anniversary vacation after that.
I may be able to squeeze it in the last weekend, but that’d be my only weekend home in a month and I might melt down if I try to do something else.
However, if you guys do plan on going the weekend of the 15th, let me know. I may be able to work something out. I might even be able to convince hubby to come to something like this.
Labor Day weekend is booked for us, too. We’re going up to Milo’s neck o’ the woods with Mr. Cranky’s family.
Other weekends in Sept, should you end up choosing another, look fairly clear.
I’ve been a few times. Quite enjoyable.

That’s okay. I’d actually kinda like to take him along. I don’t think he’s ever been to one, and we don’t really have much of a life.
