Are you related to or have you met anyone famous

I’ve been very proud of myself for ignoring my FanBoi impulses and not saying hi to celebrities that I’ve run into. I figure, if it were me, well, famous me, I’d want some down time. Where I could just be a normal schlub.

So it wasn’t until after a safari ride that I told my little kids “See that guy walking away, who was right next to us? Ummm… [uh, oh, kids are too young for MASH] … he was the voice of Cogsworth!”

I’d just watched the crappy Justice League movie, and SO wanted to whisper “Just caught your performance as John Jones, masterful.”

See, David Ogden Stiers was somehow blackmailed into appearing in one of the worst superhero movies ever, and being too heavy for a hero, they made him (J’onn J’onnzz, the Martian Manhunter) the leader who is constantly speaking from the shadows, and never moves.

Wow, that Justice League picture brought up some old memories. Ice was a close friend of mine, and still is.

In 1957 the wife and I were in lower Manhattan after a Statue of Liberty visit. We wandered into a small crowd that turned out to be watching a crew filming the movie “The World, the Flesh and the Devil”. We stopped in front of a cleared area with a wooden platform in the middle, and Harry Belafonte jumped up on the platform. He had a gieger counter in his hand and he stood there looking around at the buildings then jumped down and that was it. When I saw the movie, Belafonte is entering a deserted Manhattan after nuclear devastation and peering at all the empty buildings, but hey, I was standing right in front of him.
