Don’t count on that. Many stores will tell you too bad so sad, sucks to be you.
Like Harmonius Discord said, most stores are pretty wise to this already. The fine print says no price matching on those days. Or something to the effect of “sales prices not valid on previous purchases”.
I always figured whatever I saved by getting the “hot deals”, I’d end up spending on Black Market Valium.
No way in hell.
I plan my week in such a way that I don’t even have to go out to get another 12-pack of freakin’ sodas on Black Friday.
My wife wants me to go to Wal-Mart on Friday and pick up a couple of TomTom GPS units, which are on some massive sale.
I’d rather have my balls pounded flat with a mallet.
Newegg’s going to have the TomToms on sale, my flyer says. 6AM PST on 11/27/09:
$59.99 TomTom GPS
Doesn’t say what kind.
Better than having your balls pounded flat?
I really don’t want to, but yes. For Thanksgiving I invited a couple of my classmates, who are international students from Taiwan, to dine and stay the night. They expressed great interest in going out on Black Friday to get some bargains and I said, ‘‘Of course!’’ before it dawned on me what I was agreeing to.
I’ve been wanting a new cell phone, so maybe the day won’t be a total wash.
… hello, new thing.

No, I never do Black Friday.
Well, re: post #57, it turns out I’m a God Damned liar. As I need a couple electronic items for work, I’m going to try a couple places on BF morning. Not Best Buy, though, so I’m managing to convince myself I’m not really part of the bleating herd. So far.
I don’t do Black Friday, but this year I want to get a budget laptop for my Mom for Christmas and I think the deal is worth it. Sorry Wheeljack, but I promise to be well behaved. I plan to be in the store at or before midnight with my fold up stool and a book.
I read on Best Buy’s ad that they are suspending that policy for Black Friday.
I know for sure that Target and some locations of Walmart will price adjust on BF. So it could still work for some of you! If it doesn’t, you can easily return and re-purchase the item right there and it guarantees you will have the item.
I am going to take issue with your use of the term “easily” here.
If the store has a policy about not doing price adjustments on Black Friday, then I am guessing they are not going to easily let you simply return the item and then immediately repurchase it right there, because that would be…wait for it…a price adjustment. I would assume that what would happen is that they would take the item from you, give you your money back, and then go reshelve the item in the store. Or possibly not even reshelve it right then. And that’s if the store is even handling returns on that day.
I just really don’t think this is a good strategy. Although, hey, if it works, then more power to you!
Nope. Never done Black Friday, never wanted to, never intend to–don’t like shopping much, don’t like crowds at all.
And anyway, this Friday I’ll be en route to Chicago TARDIS.
I have to work at 10,in one of the area’s busiest malls, so I really didn’t plan on making any stops beforehand so that I can get a parking space. But Avenue just sent me a coupon for $5 sweaters, and it’s a style I like, and I need sweaters…so I may try to stop at one of the two local stores before work…they are in less-congested strip malls, so I shouldn’t have too much traffic to fight. Then I can still get to work on time. But I won’t be there at 6am!
Hell no I don’t do Black Friday! Stupid people in large groups with money burning holes in their pockets and they’re all directly in my way, no matter which way I turn? No thanks.
I live within walking distance of a mall. My plan for Friday is to walk over to the mall, and troll the parking lot. I really enjoy walking down the row of parking spaces and enticing some sucker into following me, hoping to grab my parking space. The looks on their faces when I just keep walking and walking without ever actually getting into a car are priceless.
I have no intention of actually going into the mall however.
I won’t be going because my Mig’s boss didn’t bother to pay him early so we have no extra cash until next Monday.
I wanted to go to Walmart because for once they have a few doorbusters I’m interested in.
I’m working tomorrow, so no, but even if I wasn’t, no way in hell. Not necessarily because of the crowds (though they aren’t exactly a picnic), but because my hatred for getting up before 8 AM without being paid for it exceeds the fire of a thousand suns.
I’m expecting crowds at my work (I work at a museum) but they won’t be trying to trample each other to get to cheap merchandise. I pity the poor folks who work at the gift shop, though.
Sadly, yes. But at least all I have to do is go to one store (Target), buy some baby things and get out. Also working in my favor is that the Target nearest me is in a strip mall with a Whole Foods and some restaurants. So it shouldn’t attract as many people as a fuller strip mall would.
