Are you Team Trayvon or Team Zimmerman?

Investigators who coach or contradict eyewitnesses are liable to do or nor do any goddam thing.
Let’s hope if the stupid SOBs remembered to take photos that they don’t come along and say later
that one their K-9s ate them.

And oh, didn’t Mr. Stoid mention clothes too-- how about the clothes?-- not only Zimmerman’s shirt,
which should have Martin’s blood on the front, but also Martin’s shirt, which might be expected to
have powder residue if he was shot at close range.

That is for sure…

Ms. Stoid, actually. So far there has been a contingent of folks trying to sell the idea that even if Zimmy shot Marty from the mere inches away way that the self-defense-while-pinned-the-ground-and-beaten story would seem to demand, it’s silly to think there Marty would have dropped any blood on Zimmy.

I think that’s true… if Marty’s hoodie was made by ShamWOW! which holds 12 times its weight in liquid, doesn’t drip and doesn’t make a mess! Made by Germans, and we know Germans always make good stuff…

I thought some news article said they Dod take his clothes. But damned id I will look for a cite for you people.

The broader point is that it is sad that some of you are so doggedly sticking to a narrative you made up based on your preconceived notions.

What do you mean by this?

The only preconceived notion I have is a basic understanding of human motivations. I know, for instance, that unarmed teenagers with no prior history of violence don’t generally attack strangers for no reason. They definitely don’t start beating those people so savagely, without provocation, that said people feel the need to use deadly force. That’s just not something I can picture Trayvon Martin doing, and all of the attempts at character assassination have failed to convince me that he was anything other than an absolutely normal 17-year old.

On the other hand, we know that Zimmerman was following Trayvon, that he suspected Trayvon was a thief, armed, and on drugs. It’s entirely reasonable, albeit stupid, that Zimmerman might instigate a confrontation, And given all of the assumptions he made about the victim, it’s entirely reasonable that’d he’d approach the confrontation with a high degree of hostility.

I’m not sure what else I need in order to think that Zimmerman was the aggressor here.

The police already said it was a chest wound at close range.

Honestly blown away with the amount of covert racism that has lurked on the SDMB for all the years I’ve been here.

What an eye-opener it has been to see it overtly shown both in this thread and the IMHO one. Specially considering some of the people involved. Damn! Do I ever need to make some revisions in my worthiness scale.

And this a progressive American board? Guess black people should be grateful they make it through the day alive in some of your (mostly) Southern States.

Disgusting is hardly a descriptor of many of the things I’ve read here…

OTOH, hats off to monstro, you with the face, Ibn Warraq (never thought I’d agree with him on anything!), Stoid, DianaG, Sampiro, Tao’s Revenge, madmonk, Vinyl, Jack Batty & many others (including, of course, my main man, 'luc, who just happens to be my smarter echo on most matters). And w/out a doubt, the biggest surprise ever, Lonesome Polecat – who remains an a-hole in my book…but has been amazingly lucid in this whole sordid affair.

Still. Holy Fuck! Can we please have the dreaded “fuck you!” back in The Pit? This thread is practically begging for it!

“What else [you] need” is to only pay attention to actual facts and not suppositions that make sense to you.

Redfury, please call out the covert racism you see in this thread. Id love to hear it. And I hereby give you permission to say “fuck you” to me if you must.

Dipshit, try reading my post again. For comprehension this time.

To the tune of “Mission Impossible”

marks RedFury’s name in the “Team Trayvon” column

As far as I’ve seen, there are no facts that contradict my suppositions. In fact, the only thing that does is Zimmerman’s story, which is increasingly sounding like bullshit.

For someone who claims to be a tax lawyer you have quite a few problems with proper spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Naw. Mark me as the concerned father of a UCF senior who often wears a hoodie and teaches a break-dancing class for the school and often goes to “battles.” Good thing he’s white, a dual math/astrophysics major & tutor, has a car & is not into Skittles.

Or else I might be moving him out of Fla as we speak. :frowning:

Okay, who else is watching ABC news right now? They just showed footage of Zimmerman at the PD station right after the shooting.

Am I the only one who saw absolutely no evidence of injuries on his head and face? Not a speck of blood any where that I could tell. His nose looked unscathed. The man didn’t even look like he’d been in a heated argument, let alone a serious fight.

I swear, anyone who sees this video and can still maintain this man was beaten by Martin is a goddamn idiot. The man needs to be locked up at this point for lying.

I understand that. Therein lies your problem.

What’s so hard about simply admitting ignorance, sitting back, and letting the system do its thing?

Is there a link?

I didn’t realize I was required by some authority not to have an opinion.

You are perfectly free to have an opinion, and I am perfectly free to say you are being a dumbass for doggedly sticking to your narrative built on inference and supposition instead of letting our actual truth-determining process work itself out.

It’s not on the ABC news site yet and I can’t find it elsewhere. Will look on YouTube.

There is no way anyone can see it and insist Zimmerman’s head was battered mercilessly against hard concrete. Not a wound in sight on that noggin.

So you weren’t directing that statement towards any particular “side” of this then. Anyone who has an opinion now, in the early stages of the case, is a dumbass, whether they believe Zimmerman’s version of events or not.

Got it. The only way to no be a dumbass is to remain absolutely neutral until the trial is over.

Letting the system do its thing?

Are you shitting me?

If the system had been left to “do its own thing” then the case would now be closed, right?

It was only public outrage over a dysfunctional system which led to the case being properly
and thoroughly investigated.
