As for Zimmerman’s earlier arrest, my understanding is that the charges were dropped and his record expunged in exchange for him completely anger-management classes. That’s a little different from charges being dropped for lack of evidence, right? In order to get a deal like that, you basically admit guilt.
Before checking out for the day (bacon, I do have to work, but have writer’s block). I’ll say I feel used as hell by the media as far as initial pictures/accounts. I saw that football picture and it did color my perception. His grill doesn’t change the self-defense issue, but the size issue sure as fuck did. The kid was tall, and more mature than presented. Zimmerman wasn’t some 250 pound thug. If he is 5’9" he looks maybe 200…
Had I known Trayvon wasn’t, with 100% certainty, a squeaky clean kid, I might have also been more objective initially. Does any one else feel this way?
But we can’t consider that in attmepting to determine Zimmerman’s violent tendencies. Now, if he’d had a Twitter account under @no-limit-hispanic, then, yeah, sure, straight up street thug.

I do think that releasing the older pics of Trayvon was a public-relations error, basically giving the other side, that is, the segment of the populace that was going to defend Zimmerman no matter what the facts, something to tear into.
As far as Trayvon’s character, I know that even if everything alleged about his actions prior to this incident is true, my husband and his friends did more stupid and illegal crap when they were in high school. And they were good boys from solid middle-class homes who grew up to be tax-paying citizens living boring, law-abiding lives.

I’m pretty sure this will never happen, with this investigation or any investigation in the history of mankind. Steve Doocy might, conceivably, someday trip over a fact that could turn the tide of an investigation (assuming a fact ever makes its way into the Fox and Friends studio), but Gretchen Carlson? Please.
I agree absolutely. I really don’t care if he was actually suspended from school three times. But, to think that smallish, adorable, smiling kid did anything other than go to the store and get Skittles and tea is hard to comprehend. To hear that he’s probably a normal (although unruly kid since I think the MJ allegation is accurate–please correct me if wrong) who is a full-on teenager and tall, I can at least grasp the concept that Zimmerman might have been fearful. Again, my prejudices, but, I was played, and I am peeved.
I’m still waiting for my actual evidence.

This Zimmerman has had prior brushes with the law and anger management issues. His past shows him to be (1) physically agressive and (2) capable of lying (filing “no you did it first” chargtes) when accused of domestic violence. He then is on tape as having prejudged this latest victim (Martin) to be guilty of something - anything. Then he follows him and kills him. All this CRAP is protected under some atand your ground law. In shiort, as long as he claims the “you did it first” he can quite literally get away with murder.
So. the big question…
If (just if) I myself ever get followed, stopped, challanged, ANYTHING, by some self appointed 'superhero", why shouldn’t I immediately kill HIM and then claim self defense???
Has it been definitely established that Zimmerman was lying when he filed the charges, and that he was actually the aggressor?
Maybe that’s what Martin was doing. He just never got the chance to make the claim.

I am seeing this as an invitation to a hijack, and another futile exercise in arguments over guns. I like guns, sort of, want to take a .22 to the arroyo and plink beer cans, let’s go. I loathe handguns, but am heartily sick of the argument. Bigger fish to fry, or at least some hope of frying. If that is what “deliberately ignoring” means to you, so be it.

It was pure manipulation for the media to bombard everyone with the pairing of an angelic-looking 12-year-old with a mug shot of much heavier Zimmerman from 2005.

In his prior domestic violence situation, the women filed on HIM. He did nto file until the next day. He has at least one incident of being in a physical dispute with the police that turned into shoving match.
Who followed who, after deciding “these assholes always get away” and then arbitrarily decided Martin was high on drugs (amazing psychic powers there)? Who followed after being advised by the 911 dispatcher to NOT follow? Who got out of his car? It doesn’t take a genius to understand “we don’t need yout to do that” is a polite way of saying “don’t do it”.
And given Zimmerman’s documented past “anger issues”, it is reasonable to at least suspect he was the belligerant one.
Where are all the inuries from supposedly having his head/face repeatedly slammed into the concrete?
Who was armed, who was unarmed, and who is now dead?

I think his story stinks, I think he is guilty as hell. But al that aside, the big stink is, the whole thing was dropped and he is free to go kill an other “asshole who always gets away”. The message being sent is, any psycho out there can arm up , kill some random guy and then claim “stand your ground”.

The one with the anger management issues was armed, had been advised to back off, and initiated this entire epiosode. Damn right he is guilty. And once again, NO CRIME HAD YET BEEN COMMITTED.
