Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson - you're practicing medicine without a license

I wasn’t sure whether to post it here or in the Pit, but in short, he tweeted that anyone with COVID can go to a pharmacy and get antibody treatment.

Really? REALLY!?!?!? Even if pharmacists could administer it, where would they get it, compound it, document it, etc. not to mention the physician’s orders?

Sorry if this doesn’t make sense; I’m completely baffled by this.

He’s being disingenuous-it’s ‘free’ because the federal government is paying for it, so thank Joe Biden if you get some.

I found out that an Arkansas chain called Express RX authorized their personnel to give this - with a doctor’s order, of course.

I don’t see where he’s practicing medicine.

I’m not an Asa Hutchinson fan but he’s one of the few Rs who’s kinda, sorta admitted he was wrong. Yes, the bar is low, but I’ll still take it.

You know what’s even easier than four free shots in 1.5 hours after you’re exposed? Two free shots, each less than a half-hour, before you’ve been exposed!

It’s a real program. The details aren’t all included in the tweet, of course. But this treatment has been hard to get to people because it should be administered to non-hospitalized people, but previously needed to be administered in a way that typically would occur at a hospital. It looks like they’ve determined it can be administered via 4 subq shots rather than by IV, which makes it much more available.

I was baffled when this was posted in the other thread. I guess I know why now. But it’s a real treatment being made available in my state as well.

Yeah, there’s no diagnosis here or treatment ordered/prescribed.

This is merely a public service announcement saying where someone can get a certain treatment for a certain condition/disease.

However he should have mentioned you will need a medical order. The way he puts it could be interpreted as like that you can just walk in and ask for it if you’ve been exposed.
