The column is dated 1982, but includes references to 1986 and 1990 towards the end. If Cecil revised it, I think that ought to be noted.

When classic columns are re-posted, staff (including Ed Zotti) may make minor additional comments to reflect new developments. Cecil hasn’t re-edited or revised the original column, so we don’t reflect a new dating. Perhaps we should, but we figure it’s usually self-evident. We don’t have time or money or resources to throughly revise the old column, but we know that there’s some new info that should be added.
