Slate references Cecil.

The column in question.

The Slate piece.

Did Vikings really wear horned helmet?

Cecil can take no credit - the exemplary piece in question was the work of bibliophage. I’m interested to see, though, that the Examiner people think of Cecil as their “arch-nemesis.” I’m not aware that the Master has had any run-ins with the Examiner, and wonder what leads them to think of him in this light.

Professional jealosy?

Check out this Slate article from 2009: What Is the Most Disloyal Dog Breed?

Sounds to me like a high compliment, snarkily made–and would Cecil have it any other way?

An archaeologist friend once said “I’m sad to say it but apparently there is one find of a horned helmet in a viking age grave”.

Seems to me the Explainer (not Examiner) is Slate magazine’s “answers” column. Cecil has a prodigious “answers” column, and many of the questions that Slate answers get comments “The Straight Dope answered this already.”

Curses!

Moved from CoCC to CoSR… Congrats, Bib!

I think it’s probably the secret lair, costume w/cape, mini-Cecil, and hot assistant dressed like Catwoman.
