That is eye opening. Count me in as another who didn’t know how they could roll up, or that their underside is furry.
Their feets just make me crazy. Sooooo cute.

I recall reading something about that. Every person with a skin disease, maybe even simple psoriasis and eczema may have been considered the same as those suffering from actual leprosy or whatever leprosy like disease people were actually infected with at the time. I wonder what symptoms are described in the Bible of other works. Accounts of cured lepers could easily have been people with temporary afflictions.
Well, they apparently had at least some diagnostic ability. The Bible says things like “Whoever appears to bear the sore of leprosy should visit the priest. And if the priest determines that the person bears the sore of leprosy, then…”.
But so far as I know, we don’t have any manuals for the priests, for use in determining which sores were leprosy versus milder infections, or for how to prepare the various medicines mentioned, or so on.
I think it was something like, “If he weighs the same as a duck, he’s a leper”.
