armored vehicle logistics q.

How long does it take a typical MBT to go through its own weight in supplies- fuel, ammunition, spare parts? I was wondering if for a guerrilla force, destroying an armored vehicle is almost counter-productive: if it’s easier to ship in a new vehicle than the supplies it would have used, and meanwhile the stockpiled supplies can be used for supporting other vehicles.

Considering that the armored vehicle is there to kill you right now, at least tactically it would be better for the opposing force to destroy it.

A new vehicle wouldn’t normally be shipped full of fuel and ammunition. The logistics to support a replacement or original vehicle would be about the same except for possibly maintenance issues.

If supplies were so low, for example fuel, a commander would just park some of the vehicles if that commander had the choice. Of course the Germans in The Battle of the Bulge didn’t and their tanks often just ran out of fuel. However the US Military has a pretty good handle on logistics and running out of supplies isn’t all that common overall.
