I considered asking again per e-mail, but… The timeline (all times GMT)
Act One
18 Aug 2002 14:07 - I (thought that I had) sent an e-mail to you, re: quick reply “unregistered” bug
24 Aug 2002 13:22 - Still no reply. *&!@#% e-mail. So I tried sending another one.
Checked my e-mail-setup with an auto-reply service. Seemed to work fine again.
25 Aug 2002 21:09 - I mentioned my problems of getting a mail to you in a thread.
26 Aug 2002 17:58 - I did send another mail to make sure and said so in the thread.
…
…
… No answer if it had worked or not. I thought “Poor guy. Really needs a vacation…”
Act Two
Whoopee, it’s smiley voting season again!
Checked my e-mail-setup with an auto-reply service.
06 Dec 2002 11:42 - I (thought that I had) submitted a beauty of a smiley.
Checked my e-mail-setup with an auto-reply service.
11 Dec 2002 15:07 - Re-sent a slightly optimized version.
My smiley didn’t appear in the poll. *&!@#% e-mail!
20 Dec 2002 11:14 - Sent a mail to you whining about it, telling it’s the second time that a mail got lost, and asking about the first one.
Checked my e-mail-setup with an auto-reply service.
20 Dec 2002 18:55 - Sent another copy.
21 Dec 2002 14:38 - Tried mailing a copy to TubaDiva, asking to forward it to you.
[… setting up a second address and lots of clueless testing back and forth later …]
I’ve found out so far that my provider must have managed to get on other provider’s spam blacklists and that some would deny to relay mail unless it originated from an authenticated SMTP protocol. Heck, this is the pit - if you fuckheads want/enable me to use a new mail server then would you fucking please tell me? Especially when you know that I may lose mails?
23 Dec 2002 04:38 - Tuba answers that she forwarded it.
23 Dec 2002 14:31 - Let Tuba know that I know that she let me know that it had worked. (I hope that worked.)
23 Dec 2002 15:39 - Sent a mail to you through the new setup, with a big question mark.
…
…
Look, I’m not disgruntled, just desperate. Except for the forwarded one I’m not sure that any of these mails ever reached you. Or Tuba’s got the same problem. I still don’t know if my mail server is/was the problem or if it’s fixed now. Tell me that receiving mail from me still doesn’t work for you, or just say ‘oops’ if it did, but speak to me!
Since nobody else has the heart to help you, please accept these words of inspiration and wisdom:
Samurai’s Toilette
You’d better carry rouge and powder in your bosom, as the occasion demands. For instance, in the event of recovering from intoxication or of awakening from sleep, you may look pale. In such a case, you can apply rouge and powder to your cheeks for an important occasion.

I am sorry to hear of your e-mail difficulties. Perhaps a spam filter or something on my end?
In view of the problems we are having communicating via e-mail, I would suggest that you e-mail one of the other administrators. I am not the only one who can answer your questions. Other administrators are: TubaDiva, Lynn Bodoni, C K Dexter Haven, Gaudere.
Yabbut you are the only one who can answer where the mail that was forwarded to you by TubaDiva went to.
I want to know if it just got lost in your christmas mail before I continue to bother random people about a technical problem that likely doesn’t even occur with them. Or if I should have received an answer from you and you too have a problem with your outgoing mail protocol.
IIRC the one that came to me from TubaDiva said something about me missing your smiley proposal for the smiley poll. Sorry about that. I got the e-mail forwarded from TubaDiva.
But in general - if you have a question for a staff member, instead of sending it to moderator X with the request to forward it to me, just ask moderator X directly. Saves us all a bunch of time.
Of course if it’s a smiley proposal for the poll, then you could ask someone to forward it to me since I’m in charge of smiley polls.
So the 23 Dec 2002 15:39 mail (subject “E-mail problems”) from my new setup still didn’t reach you though? Damn.
I do realize that you can’t help me much to debug my mail account. But I wanted an answer from you because a) I already tried to talk to you anyway, b) so far you’re the only one I know for certain of that the problem occurs, c) maybe it is a filter on your end and you might have known something. At least now I know that you know that there is a problem.
