I think they’re all in denial. He admitted it, and the investigators had a reason to believe he was capable of doing the crime. They’ve been watching him for some time. I just don’t believe they wouldn’t have evidence to place him at the crime and still be able to make the arrest.
 Yah, ok.
Lets make a list of all the little pagaent girls brutally raped and murdered in say, the last 20 years…
Well gosh, by my count, knowing that the press would never let a something like pagaent participation slip by without being mentioned…looks like one.
So, in the last 20 years, out of all the little girls that have been in the news for being brutally raped and murdered, one of them participated in pagaents to a degree that it warranted mention in the news.
Gosh, what does that mean? I dunno - maybe that a child’s participation in various extra curricular activites doesn’t predict if they will be the victim of violent crime? Or maybe it means that parent’s enrolling their children in activities, regardless of how misguided and CREEPY those activities seem, really have no responibility if some creepy pervert attackes and kills the child?
Really, I have no negative memories of pagaents. It was fun.
But what really frosts my cherrys, is when people - looking for someway to blame the victim - imply that because the Ramsey’s dressed their little girl up like a doll, and encouraged her to sing and dance in public, they’re somehow responsible for her death.
Frankly, that notion makes you look pathetic and sad.
Bruno Hauptmann killed JonBenet Ramsey!!111!! But I thought he killed Judge Crater.
Back on Topic:
If this guy is the guy who did it, I would not want to be him when he enters prison and the inmates realize he is the one that made all the TV stations cover the Jonbenet case for, what, a thousand years nonstop.
We can now finally return to the other Missing and Still Dead White Chick Natalee Holloway. paging Bruno Hauptmann, please pick up the white courtesy phone.
Jesus that is fucking sick. In love with a 6 year old? Can we all finally lay off the fucking pageant queen shit now? I hate them as much as anyone but in this case it’s entirely a non-issue. Yes, he said it was the cause, but when you get someone this fucked up, it seems it would take a lot less than a tiara to motivate this. I’m thinking this is getting into shit that may set me off and get me banned. I’, going to tread lightly in this thread.
Frank, did you edit that quote? Or did they actually publish "Christmas holidays*? I didn’t know there were more than one day for Christmas.
Well, he will from me, if it turns out he wasn’t involved - I assumed he did it from the get-go.
If an apology from a perfect stranger who never met anyone involved, and is merely speculating, means anything at all.
And remember, my friend, an arrest is NOT a conviction.
Certainly true. Neither is glad handing at a funeral, or putting your kid in beauty pageants. They may both be creepy, but…
Regards,
Shodan
You know what’s messed up? I can’t remember which link I saw it in, maybe the Denver Post slide show, but a psychic gave an impression of the murderer, and it looks eerily like Karr. But maybe s/he talked to someone who had reason to suspect Karr. I’m not about to start taking psychics seriously because of this one thing; I’m just saying.

It was Karr’s ex-wife who said that. Don’t know her background, but she could be British or from a British colony. I believe they say “Christmas holidays”; correct me if I’m wrong.
Question: if he has been a suspect for ten years, and they have some DNA on the undies- assuming it is his, why was no sample of his DNA ever gotten to attain a match? Is it that difficult to get a court to make you provide a sample? Even so, couldn’t someone have picked up one of his used cups from McDonald’s or something?

Y’know, I happened to be up at 4:00 this morning (couldn’t breathe) (allergies) and was reading various stories about this – and I don’t believe Karr actually said that about her being a pageant queen. I know it’s being quoted everywhere, but the first place I saw that police sergeant’s remarks, it wasn’t mentioned. Now all of a sudden it’s his last sentence.
alice_in_wonderland I believe you that your experience as a contestant was good, clean fun – but I swear, those pictures of that little girl are disgusting as all get out. It just screams “Wrong!” While that doesn’t indict her parents, I think the Collective Public does do a “what’d I tell you” in other circumstances where parenting goes awry and kids are exploited with disastrous results, whether it’s sports, academics, or beauty pageants.
Maybe this will once and for all get the average person to realize that you can’t automatically tell whether someone is guilty or not by how they act and what they say after a crime, that people react to tragedies differently…

This is a very good question.

Not that good.

No, it’s as is. Many people (that I know) refer to the string of days off between Christmas Eve and New Year’s as the Christmas holidays.
Also, you gotta admit, if this guy was able to sneak into the house, find out the exact amount of the dad’s bonus check and incorporate that into a fake ransom note that also mimiced the mom’s handwriting and writing style and did other things to make it appear to be an inside job, that is fucking brilliant. I often wonder why more criminals don’t do things like plant someone else cigarette butts at their crime scene, or leave footprints in shoes two sizes too small, things like to throw off crime scene investigators.
I’ve seen enough cases where the parents did indeed commit the murder that right or wrong, every time I hear of a child being kidnapped or murdered, my initial reaction is to look at the parents. In this case, you’ve got parents that dolled her up like a hooker. You’ve got the ransom note in what is either Pat Ramsey’s writing or a reasonable forgery thereof on her pad of paper quoting a rather odd amount for a ransom which just happens to be the amount of John’s bonus. You’ve got a mother who refers to her own daughter as “that child” and a father who has less warmth and charm than Dick Cheney. You’ve got a crime scene that was not properly sealed and evidence that was possibly corrupted. Of course it isn’t fair to the Ramseys, but it was not unnatural for the cloud of suspicion to hang over them. If this guy did it, I still want to know about the ransom note. How did he know the amount to ask for?
I’m seriously beginning to wonder about this. It would not be the first time an obsessed wacko confessed to a crime they didn’t commit. Given his obsession, and some diligent research, I don’t think it would be impossible for him to find details that the public doesn’t know.
Well, we’ll see, as the evidence comes out. I just don’t have a confident feeling that this guy is not simply deranged.

I saw on (CNN, CNBC, or FoxNews) yesterday that they matched Karr’s DNA to the DNA found on JonBenet. To me that’s pretty damn solid, no matter what they ex-wife said.
As far as beauty pageants go, I had the misfortune of shopping in a mall the day one of these child pageants were going on. The 2-stall restroom was filled with rabid mothers SCREAMING at each other because there were only a few outlets and 530 curling irons. Maybe the toxic cloud of hairspray killed all their brain cells, but I left there disgusted with the parents AND the organizers of such events. Beauty pageants are disturbing on so many levels. They don’t celebrate children and they certainly don’t glorify true beauty; they prey on the insecurity and vanity of ADULTS who’d be better served spending their time and money at a psychiatrist’s office.
The delight of children is the absence of pretense. True beauty isn’t enhanced with mascara.
OF COURSE that doesn’t mean that the Ramseys deserved to have their daughter murdered. And they paid a very steep price for their parental failings because here we are, 10 years later, still criticizing them.

I haven’t seen that news anywhere. That would be truly damning, if so.

Well, he will from me, if it turns out he wasn’t involved…
Well, YEAH–THEN! Not NOW like Dio demands, though. Based on the evidence–or more like the lack of expected evidence if an attempted kidnapping had taken place and what looked like manufactured evidence, like the ransom note, the Ramseys were “persons of interest” and the Boulder police would’ve been lax to NOT pursue that track. Of course, why they’d not be lax there when they were lax pretty much everywhere else…
On the news last night they mentioned something about the Ramseys mentioning Karr well before the cops had heard of him. I’ll try to track down more about that.

Like me, for instance. There are several holidays, including religious holy days, that stretch between Christmas Eve and Epiphany and they come as a package, so find something else to complain about, Duffer.
