There’s not a whole lot of detail yet, but I can’t be the only one who assumed that nobody was ever going to be arrested or tried for this murder. Anyone else surprised?
Good thing this came along when it did; I have it on good authority that all of America’s tabloids were about to stop printing papers due to lack of sufficiently sensational material.
I’ll admit I am surprised. I thought the parents’ behavior was suspicious at best and that the other clues pointed to them.
If it turns out that this guy did it and the Ramseys had no involvement, I feel very sorry for them, especially since Patsy Ramsey didn’t live to see her vindication.
Since this is the only IMHO thread to be opened, I’ll leave it open, though I suspect most of the activity will be in the Pit.
Well OneCentStamp and** Lissa ** I hope that you can take comfort in the fact that at least you didn’t passionately take your fellow Dopers to task and list point by point, nicely but slightly superciliously why it was obvious to anyone with a brain that the Ramsey’s did it..

The Ramsey lawyer says they are “vindicated” by the arrest? I might wait until an actual conviction, bub.
If they arrest some burglar for the murder of Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman. I’m going to personally write a letter of apology to O. J.
Again, based on an arrest? People get arrested every day- you don’t need much in the way of evidence to do it.
If someone gets convicted of the crime, then think about making OJ your newest pen pal…
This guy has confessed and provided details unknown to the public. The cops have been reportedly tracking this guy for months (Patsy knew about him before her death) and he’s been on the list of potential suspects from the beginning. I think it’s safe to say there’s something to this. I also think it’s safe to say that even the evidence we already know exists against him is still more than anything which has ever existed against the Ramseys (which is essentially nothing).
While Patsy Ramsey parading her daughter around with garish makeup and bouffant hair squicked me out (and apparently attracted the attention of this pedophile), I can’t imagine the hell she and her husband lived with the last decade. To have your daughter murdered is horrific enough, but to be a suspect in her death…? It really is too bad that Ramsey didn’t live long enough to at least see the suspect tried.
I was a little suspicious, though, when he said it would take hours to describe what happened. On the one hand, 
, but on the other, maybe he doesn’t know because it wasn’t him??
If he’s a sicko who killed her because of his obsessive “love” for her, I’m sure he’s fetishized the memory of the deed to the point where it WOULD take hours for him to describe it, and he’d get off on describing it. People who kill for the sick thrill often revel in the revisiting of and retelling of the crime, keep souvenirs, etc. I know, :eek: , but it’s true.
It feels weird to say, “I hope he did it,” but it would be nice to have the murderer brought to justice and the family exhonerated if they are, in fact, innocent of this crime. I’m interested to see how it pans out.
He was NOT on the list in the beginning:
Police learned of him when a CU professor researching the case and corresonding to him became suspicious and reported him.
On Fox News last night they said he was on a list from the beginning. They even said he was a name suggested by the Ramseys.
Everything I am reading indicates the professor/email thing above, and that when Mr. Ramsey was asked if he knew the guy, he said he did not.

Sorry Diogenes, but I’m not buying it. The Boulder PD was leaking like a sieve for months- even they don’t remember the things that “only the killer should know.” This guy is confessing to everything he can think of, probably to avoid doing time in a Thai prison.
Sadly, it sounds like a set-up.
Even if it’s not, if he is telling the truth, then the Ramsey’s allowed this man to have extraordinary access to their daughter, and not in a good way.
He says he drugged her- nope, no drugs or alcohol in her system. He says he raped her- but they found only a 1cm abrasion on her vagina? Does the guy have the worl’ds smallest dick?
Nope, not even close for me. Just watch this case unravel over the next few weeks.

Man, have you seen the photos of this guy in the press? Creepy. I don’t know whether his confession is real or not, but if you could be convicted for looking like a child molester he’d be well on his way to the big house.

I too am thinking he’s copping to this so he doesn’t do time in Thai prison. I can’t imagine what they pegged him doing in Thailand that makes American prison for life a better option.
