Arrest made in the Jon-Benet case?!

It has never been contended that Burke Ramsey was anywhere but asleep in his bedroom in the house where his sister was murdered that night. He gave handwriting, fingerprint, and blood samples along with his parents. He was interviewed for hours by investigating officers. He was a slightly built ten-year-old boy, who (excuse me for being so blunt) probably did not yet have pubic hair to leave on the blanket which covered his dead sister! He was never seriously considered a suspect in the case.

I swear, does anyone actually do any reading on this case before they offer opinions? Or do people just trust their memories of biased media reports and gossip of ten years ago?

My bs meter is sounding off…this guy was facinated by the case and obsessed about it (according to his x-wife). He just wants to be a part of it and this is one way to do it. He was confessing to things while being excorted thru the press (something REAL killers almost never do) but when asked any difinitive questions he’d just clam up. Not one logistical question has been addressed and answered. And remember…the Ramseys want their named cleared and they have lots of money to make it happen.

Holy crap, :smack: guilty as charged. I just got home, dug out my notes from all those years ago, and you are right – no excuses, especially from a former journalist. Check the notes first, then start writing. It’s fundamental.

The pubic hair could well be meaningless. According to my notes, the blanket was from elsewhere in the house, not brought into the house from the outside. And no one in the DA’s office or BPD ever said the pubic hair was tested for DNA – the strong hint was that there was no follicle, so testing couldn’t be done. The DNA found on the body wasn’t from anyone in the family (but no one has ever said what the nature of the DNA is.)

And I have to modify my statment concerning Burke’s voice in the background of the original 911 call. The Ramseys had said he was asleep “during the whole ordeal” (Longmont Times-Call, 6/2/99.) Analysis of tape of the 911 call allegedly shows Burke’s voice in the background asking what was going on. Probably (my speculation here) confusion over off-the-cuff statements by a stricken parent; God knows why people say some of the things they say at times like that. Also, some of Burke’s statements at the time could be interpreted to be incriminating to him – or they could be the rambling of a very confused 9-year-old boy.

Whether “all the stuff that doesn’t add up” constitutes real discrepancies in what people said vs. what police found, or is just BPD spin (Patsy said the note was found on the back stairs; police said they found it on the kitchen’s hardwood floor) we may never know.

And I absolutely promise, no more posting without knowing what the !$%*# I’m talking about!

Those sound like conflicting excuses to me: either he wanted to be part of it, or the Ramseys want a scapegoat, but both at once seems unlikely.

As long as you’re making up speculation without proof, why not imagine this is all a plot by the police to bring in an obviously fake killer to flush the real one out of hiding?

It certainly is a mysterious case.
