Maybe in her depression she’ll appear in Girls With Low Self Esteem!
i think i need to tape this show, after reading these lines I think I missed half of them. I loved the juice box Buster had.
Now off to take a shower and wash my linus.
Gob’s failed magic has me cringing and howling at the same time. Especially since Mr. singular was an accomplished stage magician back in the day - they’ve really nailed the inherent humiliation of cheesy magicians!
'specially since I didn’t see him at the convention.
There are dozens of us! DOZENS!
A little bit off the topic here, but are they taking Arrested Development off the air. I’ve heard this rumor for a while now, but I don’t know how true it is.
Thanks.
Was I hearing things, or did George Michael tell that college kid not to “fuck with my cousin?” Is that why the warning before the show?
Linus and Charlie Browns. HA! I had to rewind because I was laughing so hard.
Was there some inside joke about the narration? Howard seemed a little defensive. Did some critic bash the show’s narration in a review? Or a network exec say that they didn’t like the amount of narration used? Instead of conforming, did AD give a big screw you to their crtics?
I felt there was something more to the joke. Like it was an inside joke told only for the cast and crew’s benefit.
And I loved it.
Yea, I thought I heard that too, and sat there and wondered for about a half a minute. He must have.
We don’t really know, saluki_fan. It seems like every time we hear some good news about the show’s future it’s immediately followed by bad news that saddens us all over again. Here’s what we know:
Good News:
[ul]
[li]Fox seems to be willing to support the show as it finds an audience. I’ve seen it advertised all over the internet, and it’s prominently featured on Fox’s site. They’ve also set up a [http://www.getarrested.com]fan site with clips to build more buzz for the show. [/li][li]After this season’s order from the network was reduced from 22 to 18 episodes, the president of Fox made a point to reassure fans that the series was not going anywhere. Take that with a grain of salt, but I can’t remember the network ever officially commenting on a series with an uncertain future before (think Futurama or Firefly). [/li][li]On that same subject, the show may have a small audience, but we’re a rabid bunch. When the order reduction was announced, fans bombarded the studio with correspondence supporting the show. The fans at TWoP began to organize a campaign to send plastic bananas to Fox’s offices. The response was significant enough to elicit the unusual response mentioned above. [/li][li]The show is getting better and better. Regardless of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, I have to believe in my heart of hearts that the drones at Fox realize that this is a quality show. [/li][/ul]
Not As Good News:
[ul][li]The ratings are still pretty poor from what I’ve read. And although Fox seems supportive of the show, the apparantly aren’t very confident that it’ll be a success, evidenced by the fact that they cancelled its “sweeps” month episodes, opting to air the abysmal LCD-fest American Dad in its place. [/li][li]The show itself is pretty esoteric. While I think each episode is funny on its own, the show is absolutely hysterical if you know the characters and the recurring jokes. A gag may be the funniest thing the hardcore fans have ever seen, but to new viewers may come off as flat or just plain confusing. [/ul][/li]
Overall though I remain optimistic.IMO this is the best show that’s been on TV in a long long time, and I think if Fox gives it a chance they’re going to have a serious hit (think Cheers or Seinfeld) on their hands.
He said “pluck,” although the intended reaction was obvious.
Buster’s defensive, “Mom’s still got it!”
And after commenting on the “linuses,” he knocks himself out with the coconut.
I definitely missed George Michael’s “don’t fuck with my cousin” line though. Would he really have said that? I figured the warning at the beginning was for the “Women With Low Self-esteem” shots. Although I guess they did the blurred out breasts before without any warnings. Hmm…
I figured the warning was for a combination of:
- The Girls With Low Self Esteem scenes
- “Show us your bananas and nuts!”
- “You’re a flower, and I don’t want someone to pluck you.” (paraphrased)
BTW the “Boys’ Linuses” scene is on the Get Arrested I poorly linked to above at the moment.
Was there a hand reaching out from behind the camera to adjust the camera lens or something when Kitty flashed? I swear I thought I saw a hand…
It covered up the lens I believe. It was there for a few seconds, so it was definitely intentional. Although I think that everything on that show is intentional.
There certainly was. A nod to the documentary style.
I also liked how Tobius totally gave away the location to George, Sr. in the attic on Scandel(whatever) totally by accident. That was great.
This is why I always tape the show and watch it twice. He said “pluck” (something like “you’re like this flower, and I don’t want someone to pluck you who doesn’t care about you” and he didn’t pronounce it very clearly. Oops.
And WTF was Tobias doing in the fireplace?
He fell down there during the first intervention (the one that turned into a party), and I guess they just decided to have him there again.
I thought this episode was also less edited than the last couple… somehow in the past two weeks, the dubbing has gotten really obvious to me and it bothers me. Seems like they must revise and shorten the episodes A LOT in the editing room!
