I didn’t think it was one of their better shows, but it wasn’t awful. The chicken dances never fail to make me crack up - and mr e. always just looks at me and says “Have they ever SEEN a chicken?”. The Wee Britain thing was a little…dare I say it?..twee…but I still laughed.
The Saddam/Rumsfeld picture - classic. That was HYSTERICAL.
We’ll see next week. If those scenes are actually in the episode, I’ll be sorely disappointed. If not, then kudos to them for taking a good thing and making it even better.
I think they’ve moved the “fake scenes” to the ‘last time on Arrested Development’ segment and the previews are real. Incidentally, in that out-of-nowhere James Bond finish (I don’t like it in general when they admit they’re a TV show, and doing an iris lke that was blatant), they said “Michael Bluth will return in “Forget-Me-Not.”” According to IMDb, that IS the name of the next episode, so good for them.
That’s pretty much the joke. Bob Loblaw is apparently the Bluth’s new attorney. He’ll be played by Scott Baio. The gag in the preview was Michael telling Lindsay, “Don’t talk gibberish to Bob Loblaw”. I suppose you had to see it, but I’m still laughing about it today.
I thought it was kinda weak, especially after one of the funniest ones last week. Give it another shot EllisDee.
I taped it this time, so I’ll go back and watch it again, but any episode with Portia’s Chicken dance is a riot. I just die when I see that. Gob’s is a close 2nd.
I have the feeling Andy Griffith is going to be making a brief appearance??..(Assuming he’s still alive)
The only “bad” Arrested Development I’ve seen so far are any season 2 scenes with Martin Short. They were awful.
So far season 3 has been excellent. I can’t fathom the complaints of “broadness” and the theories of network execs tampering with the narration. The show is only 22 minutes and they had a lot of story to get through. Relax, there will be plenty of Maebe, Buster, and George Michael to come!
7th Heaven is WB’s highest-rated show, if I’m not mistaken. And I doubt there’s much of a potential crossover audience between that show and AD. So this isn’t really surprising, and neither is the idea that most people like really awful TV shows. Too bad for us mutants who can somehow enjoy TV that’s actually good.
True. Hopefully they have the same attitude that NBC had to Seinfeld, which was even though it had poor ratings, it was good enough that it was eventually going to take off.
I watched this episode again last night, and this time I caught the “stupid” hints.
In the recap at the beginning, Michael and George Michael are talking about George Michael’s “stupid girl problem.” George Michael clarifies that it’s a stupid problem, not a stupid girl, and Michael points out that he doesn’t have a woman at all, not even a stupid one.
Later Dave Thomas asks Michael how he would feel if someone stupid in his family got hurt. It wasn’t a threat, it was a rhetorical question.
