Arrested Development 10/3

I’m still laughing.

Definitely better than last week’s show.

E.

Only Tobias could combine analyst and therapist to come up with his new profression of **analrapist. ** He even made business cards! And I cracked up every time someone said “Bob Loblaw”. This was a fantastic episode.

Oh my, that was funny. There were a couple of times that I laughed so hard I almost choked. I never thought I’d find roofies so hilarious.

I LOVED this episode. LOVED it!

Best use of a Roofie, EVER.

“I won’t forget this!”
“But I will!”

“A bunch of adolescents with arrested development.”

“Hey, that’s the name of the show!”

I swear, I choked on my soda at that.

And “This isn’t the first time I’ve been brought in to replace Barry Zuckercorn!”.

E.

What about George Michael’s line, “Good, I was hoping he’d be gifted sexually” about Steve Holt? I was crying by then.

Oh, and the “Family Love Michael” sign - that whole scene, really - was just too great.

Yes!

Oh - and the scene where Maeby and George Michael were standing by drugged Steve Holt, and Maeby says “Let’s put his pants back on.”

I HOWLED at the throwaway “You took his pants off?” from George Michael.

E.

I thought the Surrogate was a hoot, and I really have no idea why. Nice editing in the living room and office sequences. One complaint: not enough Dave Thomas!

Last week’s episode scared me a little – first chink in the armor? – but this one more than made up for it. Analrapist, forget-me-nows, “I won’t forget this!” “But I will… I will.”

I kinda got the feeling that Rita is pretending to play stupid but it isn’t working because Michael just isn’t getting any of the hints.

Also, the name Bob Loblaw STILL cracks me up.

I don’t know. Her school name is ‘Slowbrooke’, and when she was sitting on the ‘Wee Britain’ bus bench, she blocked the letters out to say ‘Wee Brain’.
I think AD is letting us know she is, uh, special.

I have no doubt that she’s (with apologies to Gilmore Girls) ‘eating-the-paste special’.

I did like her better this week than last week.

E.

Great, great show. Wee Brain indeed.

And Gob, as much as I’ve started to hate him, made me pity him again.

How about when George kept switching the picture-in-picture on his monitor every time one of his family members tried to get affectionate with him?

About Rita: when they flashed back to Dave Thomas threatening Michael last week, he said something about doing something to “a stupid member of your family”. I think that was a definite clue that she’s developmentally disabled. The kiddie ride and the rest of her behavior (behaviour?) in the American-themed restaurant was a giveaway, too.

At least we know now why she always wears those funny hats.

And poor Buster has to go back to Army!

Super Dave as the surrogate was great - “Wink. Did you wink, or did you say wink?”

If someone doesn’t pick Bob Loblaw as their user name on this board pretty damned fast, I might seriously consider cancelling my membership.

[sub]I know, I know…no incentive. But still…that was funny as hell.[/sub]

Still not as good as the premiere, I think - it seems to me that they’re trying to be a little more accessible this season - but while trying to be more accessible, they work in a roofies subplot! Wonderful.

That might be the best line he’s ever delivered.

And Lindsay’s phone sex with Bob Loblaw? With the secretary sitting there! And then the transcript! The french maid thing! Oh, jeez…

Incidentally, I’ve been muttering “Bob Loblaw” on and off since last week. I don’t think this is helping my social life.

So, just on the subject of the show in general: did anyone see Jason Bateman on the Conan O’Brien show several months ago when there were some questions about AD being renewed?

He mentioned that they’d pitched an idea to the network to have his RL sisterJustine (Mallory on “Family Ties”) show up as a love interest for him.

The network balked, evidently. I thought the idea was brilliant.

This show kicks MAJOR ass!

I actually think the last 2 haven’t been as good as the rest of the show.

I laughed at “Hey, that’s the name of the show.”

That’s about it.

Yeah I didn’t like this episode very much either. I loved the bizarre interaction between George Sr. and his surrogate, Super Dave. Everything else seemed like they were trying too hard.
