Arrow Season 7

THE TEAM IS TARGETED -* Oliver and Felicity are disappointed after they learn that William is hiding something from them. Wanting to focus on his family, Oliver steps back from his Green Arrow duties and let’s the team take over tracking down a serial killer. However, when the team becomes targets for the killer, things take a bloody turn.*

I’ve finally caught up on this season and…meh. Not the worst, but also seems like it’s going nowhere. I thought Roy was going to figure into this season; they keep name-dropping him, but maybe some Arsenal would kick things into high gear.

Roy has so far only appeared in the future segments. They haven’t really given any indication how the future will derive from the present although they’ve finally shown how Dinah lost her cry.

I was wondering when we’d see Oliver’s friend from prison again. I thought he’d become a new Big Bad but he turned out to be just a minor road bump. All he’s done of note are to cut Dinah’s throat and convince Oliver to ship William off to his grandparents. At least we won’t have to watch any more scenes of adolescent rebelliousness.

As someone who always seemed to enjoy the secondary characters over the primary characters in the comics and on many series, one of my pre-Arrow favorites is now gone. Goodbye Curtis “Mr. Terrific” Holt. Too bad Arrow didn’t elevate you the way I would have liked. Mr. Terrific deserved better, but with Arrow and Felicity filling the niche he should have fit in, he never stood a chance.

I’d like to see Mr Terrific join the Legends. He’d be a better fit with them, traveling time and space, than cooling his heels with A.R.G.U.S.

DIGGLE AND LYLA DEPLOY THE GHOST INITIATIVE -* After months of covertly pursuing Dante, Diggle and Lyla finally have a solid lead on the elusive terrorist, so they deploy the ARGUS Ghost Initiative to apprehend him. Meanwhile, Oliver tries to bond with Emiko.*

Is Diaz finally dead? He got burned real bad but we didn’t actually see a body, did we?

At last Dante makes his appearance. And the writers gave us a reason to care about him other than that he’s a bad dude. He also answers the question of where Emiko got her training.

I’d guess Diaz is not dead – he was still alive when we last see him. Unless I see his decapitated body with his head and body cremated separately and the ashes thrown into two different volcanoes I will treat him as alive.
If we just see the burnt body I will suspect a switch somehow. I would want VERY precise dental work and even then I would be suspicious.
(who lit him on fire? someone who can rig the plumbing to dispense flammable liquid. It was somebody Diaz recognized)

The best motivation for Dante training Emiko is to take out rival bad guys. And/Or as hinted at infiltrating team Arrow.

Brian

And he’s played by Adrian Paul, aka Duncan McLeod of the Clan McLeod, aka the (other) Highlander, from the TV series.

There could, in fact, be two.

And even if Earth 1 Diaz is Dead. they could bring in Earth n Diaz.

TEAM ARROW ATTEMPTS TO WORK WITH SCPD - Team Arrow attempts to work with the Star City Police Department but much to Oliver’s frustration, things don’t go as planned. Meanwhile, Dinah gets some life-changing news.

It appears I never came back to the thread to give my reaction to the episode. Which probably speaks to its quality and, indeed, the quality of these recent episodes. It wasn’t bad but neither was it particularly good. It was mediocre, predictable and ultimately forgettable. What a snoozefest

FLASH FORWARD TO THE FUTURE - Mia (guest star Katherine McNamara) and William (guest star Ben Lewis) venture into the Glades on a dangerous mission. There they run into Dinah, Roy and Zoe (guest star Andrea Sixtos) who deliver some devastating news. The flash forwards share highlights from Mia’s childhood with Felicity.

LAUREL TEAMS UP WITH OLIVER - Laurel learns about some damaging information that affects Emiko. Always looking to protect his sister, Oliver invites Laurel to help investigate, which makes Felicity happy as her friend is now working with the team. However, when things go awry, Felicity is forced to make a choice between the team and Laurel.

The final scene implied that Emiko was behind the sinking of The Queen’s Gambit. This brings up the question of where she’s been hiding all these years since Oliver came back. Wouldn’t she at least try to claim her inheritance as illegitimate daughter of Robert?

She also seems to be bossing Dante around now, a switch from their previous relationship. What have the two of them, and their mysterious organization, been doing all this time? You’d think they’d at least come out to counter Damien Darhk, as blowing up the world in nuclear hellfire seems to be antithetical to their mission statement.

BIRDS OF PREY; CAITY LOTZ GUEST STARS - After being accused of murder and having her criminal past exposed, Laurel goes full Black Siren and teams up with an old criminal acquaintance, Shadow Thief (guest star Carmel Amit), to go on a crime spree around Star City. While Dinah aims to bring Laurel in, Felicity refuses to give up on her friend and tries everything to get through to her, even summoning Sara Lance (guest star Caity Lotz) for help. However, Laurel rebuffs all her efforts, forcing the former friends to face off against each other.

This was actually a pretty good female-led episode, with no self-congratulatory #feminism nonsense (I’m looking at you, Flash). I thought they would contrive some sort of lead-in on Legends to get Sara off the Waverider but, nope, she goes straight from Bollywood to her White Canary outfit. She still kicked the most ass out of all the Birds of Prey and we got the salmon ladder to boot.

One thing this episode has highlighted more than most is that Oliver has become increasingly irrelevant in his own show. He’s not in any of the flash forwards, and his side trip with Diggle didn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know - that Dante is still around pulling the strings. It really is time for the show to wrap up.

I don’t know what you’re talking about. I counted two inspiring feminist speeches and loved it.

It was nice seeing Sara appear two shows in a row.

Carmel Amit’s Shadow Thief suit fit her very well.
