Arrow - Season 4 Thread

Season 4 starts tonight!

When last we left Ollie, he had turned over the title of Ra’s Al Ghul to Malcolm. Ollie and Felicity are together… I think? Ray was in an explosion at his lab. We know there is a spinoff series coming later that has some characters from Arrow and The Flash.

Not sure what to expect this season, but I’m looking forward to it.

Is Diggle Mr. Terrific?

ETA: Or a Mandalorian?

Hurray! We finally get the Green Arrow and Star City. Now Oliver just needs to grow a goatee.

I would personally pay the writers $10,000,000,000 internet dollars if they stop Every! Character! fetishizing “The City”. “The City” is a hunk of fairly ugly buildings (as opposed to the buildings in, say Gotham which at least have style or Central City which look like Carmine Infantino created them–it’s a fugly ‘set’). “The City” is not a woman, it’s not a lover and the way characters refer to it is just creepy. You can’t fail “The City”. You might fail the people in the city.

It’s as annoying as the use of the words “trust” and “honesty” were in Smallville. You couldn’t go 10 minutes, let alone an episode, without someone having the “You don’t trust me” conversation. Only in this case, it’s the “The City” conversation.

Didn’t take long to get Ollie back in the hood.
I liked seeing Felicity and Oliver happy together in domestic bliss, but that wouldn’t make for an interesting show.
I think we’re supposed to believe that was Felicity’s grave at the end? But we didn’t actually see and they didn’t name anyone, right? Any guesses who it might actually be?
Lots of time jumps back and forth. Funny scene when Ollie was on the plane being told to do a low altitude parachute jump into his unknown target. “Wait, is that–?” [gets kicked out of plane over Lian Yu]

I’m not wild about the dark turn it took at the end with the grave site scene.

I know we’re supposed to think that it’s Felicity’s grave Oliver is kneeling by “6 months later”, but I kind of doubt it. Barry (“The Flash”) Allen was also there, and he seemed sorrier that he’d missed the funeral than about whose funeral it was. Since Barry and Felicity came oh-so-close to being a couple, I would expect he’d be more upset if she was the one in the grave.

I didn’t get the start of the flashback scenes. By this point, Ollie’s had years of combat training from various groups and worked as a gov’t assassin - how’s he punked by a common street thug with a gun?

As for the current timeline, I liked Felicity’s line: “Our friends need help; we should already be in the car.”

Thea remains my least favorite character. Rather than psycho-analyzing her, maybe just point out we can’t take out an army of guys if she spends fifteen minutes punching one guy in the face repeatedly?

Magic in the Arrowverse? Zatanna, please!

Rumor is that they’re going to wrap up the (sadly defunct) Constantine series this season in Arrow. I hope that’s true.

Oh yeah, that’s right. Constantine will be on one or two episodes. Still, I’d love to see Zatanna. Or Dr. Fate

I only got a few episodes into Constantine. I assumed Zee would have turned out to be Zatanna.

I really, really hope you’re right. I will haz a sad if Felicity is killed. And I also agree about not being able to imagine Barry missing her funeral.

After doing some reading, I’m guessing it is Diggle in the grave. It seems somebody has been hired to play Mr. Terrific, and I am guessing he is replacing Diggle, but I honestly don’t know.

Forgot to mention the, blink and you’ll miss it, Hal Jordan cameo at the beginning of the Coast City flashback scene.

Two or three of whom are now… dead? Ray Palmer got blowed up, Sara Lance got shot by Speedy, and half of Firestorm got et by a black hole. I see that they’ve only got Dr. Stein in the cast for the new series, so maybe they’re going to get tired of him in the Flash since they already have plenty of scientists…

Jeri Ryan still looks good–I wonder if we’ll see her character again or if that was it.

Sara Lance, on the other hand, looks really bad. What are you thinking, Laurel? Thea was only mostly dead when Ollie tossed her in the Lazarus Pit, and look at the issues she’s having. What do you imagine will happen if you bring back someone who’s been rotting in the ground for, what, a year? Haven’t any of you read Pet Sematary?!!

So… that kid is supposed to be Mister Terrific, right?

From what I understand, yes.

I thought it was a bit odd how they were making such a huge deal of the fact that Speedy might have killed someone. Yes, Ollie tries to no longer kill people. But didn’t Diggle kill some goons with a pistol moments earlier? It’s one thing to not randomly shoot arrows into random thugs when you can just disable them, but since when is using deadly force in entirely legitimate self defense something that is so horrifying to Team Arrow that it requires an intervention?
And does Lance-is-working-with-Damien-Darkh make any sense to anyone?

Sara’s really let herself go.

Which kid?

Not to me

The guy with the firing/salary algorithm at Palmer.
