I noticed them a few years back, and I saw them on occasion last year. Then nothing for a while. Yesterday, I saw a modified version and I’m still wondering about them.
On streetlights, about 4’ up, bands of (what I assume is) paper, always three, and always with the markings of arrow symbols on them. In the past they’ve always been black and it’s always been two facing one direction, and one facing another. The ones I saw yesterday were red, although the ones I usually see are black. Yesterday’s also had the marking ‘WBC’ on it. Any idea what these might indicate?
That makes sense. When they filmed Wonder Boys a few years ago there were signs scattered all over the place for it. Pittsburgh can be a tough town to navigate even if you know where you’re going; an out-of-towner trying to find a shoot would be SOL without some kind of marker. ArrMatey, has there been anything in the news there lately about a shoot? You might be able to get on as an extra. Free food and $50 or so for standing around watching them make a movie
Heh. It -would- actually make sense- there was an area nearby that was being hovered-by with helicopters, and the police had a street blocked off, yet I read nothing about it in the news today, so it likely wasn’t a crime or disaster… Hrm… Thanks for the info, that may well be what it is!
Exactly…where are you seeing this ?..not asking coordinates…but a city would be nice.
I know gorwing up in Cincinnati, OH, they had a five lane road…the traffic from 6-9 am had four lanes going in…represented by green arrows over the lanes inbound, and a red X over the outbound traffic…from 9am-3pm and 6pm-6am it was 2 lanes both ways and a middle turn lane. From 3-6pm it was 3 out and two in…normally the far right lane was always open. If they were blacked out…the timers were switching them…so the lane was slowly depleted from traffic to allow a “safe” transistion for the traffic.
See my example:
6-9
Going into town:
[COLOR=red]X [COLOR=green]v [COLOR=green]v [COLOR=green]v [COLOR=green]v
Coming out of town:
[COLOR=red]X [COLOR=red]X [COLOR=red]X [COLOR=red]X [COLOR=green]v
9-3
Both ways:
[COLOR=red]X [COLOR=red]X [COLOR=black]X [COLOR=green]v [COLOR=green]v
No, these weren’t lights. They were bands of paper that were put on the vertical part of the streetlights. The bands were about five or six inches wide.
