Appearantly both sites have crashed due to tons of people flocking to them to discuss and learn the latest on the Artie situation.
well, I sent an email to Artie about 6 months ago making the case that I would be a much better PA than Teddy could ever aspire to… none of this would have happened had he ditched the dweeb and taken me up on my offer! 
If I was threadshitting, then I apologize. I haven’t listened to Stern since he went to Sirius, but I always followed the Artie saga.
And okay, the story about the time he bought blow while shooting a skit for Mad TV in a chicken costume is still probably one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard.
I hope he gets any and all the help he needs.
Oh my God, I seriously had no idea Artie has gotten so bad,here’s a video of him from less than a month ago on a talk show. Where they talk about his rise to success, his battles with drugs, his overeating… then they blindfold him and feed him cupcakes and soda?!

It was a pig. Not to knitpick, but he had to stick a straw in the snout and apparently it was wearing a bikini top over like each of three sets of teats so it’s kind of important part of the story.
I used to be a big Artie fan but not so much any more. His whole refusal to stop using the “Fag” word and his explanation why it’s not hateful; I find extremely annoying.
I can think of a few work hungry comedians that would be way better for the show.
Last night I listened to the three parts linked above and I was shocked at how out of control he was about something so minor. They also alluded to him physcially attacking someone from the show before and how Howard had talked to him about it never happening again.
I’ve never, ever found Artie to be funny but I hope he gets some help.

Artie isn’t good for the show because he’s funny. He’s good for the show because he’s a total mess. Howard and Artie have both known and acknowledged this from day one. I think if he really did leave they definitely wouldn’t replace him right away and they might not ever replace him. He didn’t exactly fill the hole that Jackie left - he’s not a writer or anything - Benjy filled that role. If anything, Benjy, Sal, and Richard would probably get slightly expanded roles if Artie left.
And I don’t think there are as many people out there who could fill the role as you think there are. Artie is from the NYC metro area and grew up with the show. He “gets it” in a way a lot of people can’t or just don’t. The only people I can think of who might do ok in that seat are Greg Fitzsimmons and Gilbert Gottfried, and both would have to learn to edit themselves a little more liberally.
Yeah, the whole High Pitch Mike thing reeeeeally bothers me. Not just the word “fag,” but just the whole… thing. Artie seems to have become (or was he always?) such a flaming asshole lately. On Howard TV, every time there’s a hallway interview with him, he’s a supreme douche - he plays it like he’s doing it for the camera, but I don’t buy it. And the most recent sleeping episode, in which he fell off the bed… He’s just gotta be on the junk again, or DEEP into diabetes.

Artie has definitely been a lot meaner lately. Not the jolly fat guy he once was. I can’t defend HPM though, because he’s just as much of a douche and doesn’t contribute anything at all to the show. Seriously, what is that guy’s job?
I think Artie’s problem right now might be that he’s not on the junk. He’s got major issues to deal with and he’s eating to keep his feelings down.
FTR I think he normally falls asleep on the show from sugar crashes but the other day it was because he was out all night at a gig.
You know, it’s strange… George mostly just sits back and is too classy to get too involved in most of the show, but I have to say I enjoy it much more when he’s on there. I can’t figure out exactly what he adds, but he’d be great as a more regular addition to the show.

Another vote for George Takei! I enjoy it so much when he’s on too. He’s so open and such a good sport. And, yes, he’s very classy.
I was always a bit Artie fan, but it’s true, this High Pitch Mike thing and the fag thing are just not fun and not funny.

They updated the website for yesterday’s Mastertape Theatre but never posted a rundown of Thursday’s show.
FWIW, I caught a Wrap-Up Show from earlier in the week and they were saying Artie is nowhere near diabetic. A doctor recently confirmed this and John Hein is diabetic and tests him frequently.
