Artist ID - I Got You (I Feel Good)...in bluegrass

About four years ago, I heard, yes, a bluegrass version of James Brown’s I Feel Good, and have been looking for it since. Anyone heard this or know who did it?

You might check out The Gourds or Hayseed Dixie - each of them does remarkably bizarre bluegrass covers. The former did a cover of Snoop Dogg’s “Gin & Juice” and the latter did a cover of the Cars’ “My Best Friend’s Girl”. If they aren’t the culprits, you may yet find the band you seek mentioned in the same breath with these groups.

The All Music Guide doesn’t list any likely bluegrass band names, but you can check each of them out. The link is the second page of results for people who have performed the song (the first page is almost exclusively James Brown’s name).

This string quartet may be the key – the album review mentions a “humorous” version of the song, but doesn’t get specific. A string quartet could very easily manage to sound like bluegrass: fiddle, string bass, plucked viola or banjo, and dobro or mandolin, and you’ve basically got it.

Just a WAG but try Run C&W

If any knows for sure, let me know, but that looks like it, dbygawdcapn. There’s a medley called Working in the Coal Mine/I Feel Good on one of their albums. Unfortunately, it’s out of print, and I couldn’t find any sound bites of it to download, but now I know what to look for. Thanks for the help!
