FOrgive me if some of this gets unlocked later in the game… where I’m at now it’s not there so I’ve been assuming that it won’t be. I’d love some pink Floyd in there. What about Weird Al? How fun would THAT be?? Screaming Blue Messiahs “55 the Law” would be so cool. Cyndi Lauper could contribute a lot. Til Tuesday would be good. More Fleetwood Mac, Pat Benatar, whoever that Samantha (?) Fox chick that was who was blonde and hot and we liked her music even if we can’t remember it. Violent Femmes would be great. Peter Gabriel, Laurie Anderson… some of Sting’s stuff like Desert Rose… More R.E.M., way more Scorpions, and how about some classic Linda Ronstadt? Sinead O’Connor had several songs that would fit the format well, I think. For hilarious punk stuff there’s bands like The Toy Dolls that would be so much fun. I think they’d fit well with todays video game playing audience…
What about this as a venue for emerging artists? American Idol could team up–we could have David Cook doing Billie Jean on there–how fun would that be?
They’ve got one Jethro Tull song–does that mean more to come? They have an amazing catalog.
Depeche Mode? How about Duran Duran’s “Come Undone”? How cool would that be?
So what are your wish list items?
(Oh and I’m hoping they can get Trogdor! from Guitar Hero over to Rock Band since we almost never play GH anymore…
Since I’ve been getting back into my old Dixie Dregs CDs lately, I’d suggest them. Not that anyone would ever be able to play their stuff, but at least it would be fun to watch.
Also, The Bothy Band, and Earth, Wind, and Fire, and Planxty.
They need some Yes on there (especially Roundabout) and I’d kill for Thick as a Brick by Jethro Tull, but if they did the whole thing my arm would fall off.
More Billy Idol. White Wedding on RB2 and Rebel Yell on GH4 are both awesome and tons of fun…I would love to see a nice collection, especially including the old Generation X stuff. Ready Steady Go or Kiss Me Deadly are made for this game.
We like playing a game at our house called “make horrible suggestions for Rock Band songs”… it’s not like an officially organized game or anything, just that if something is playing that totally wouldn’t work on Rock Band (or if we just happen to think of one), we’ll say “hey, they should totally put that on Rock Band!” You know, songs that are nothing but piano and voice, or for whatever other reason just would not work. It can be entertaining. Like the Rufus Wainwright version of “Hallelujah”… or for that matter, Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus”.
Actually I’d like to see them open the source the code for making songs in the GH/RB formats so that bands can release GH/RB versions of their albums, widening the consumer base for their product.
This could either help defeat piracy if you include the game disc in the packaging with the CD so people are forced to buy the physical copy or this could give bands a great angle in negotiating contracts with record companies and helping them collect additional publishing monies if they elected to do it as a download only thing.
These games could be a huge boon to both the record companies and the bands.
I for one appreciate the fact that they used lots of material from Panic(still with the !) at the Disco’s Fever You Con’t Sweat Out album, featuring tightly-arranged upbeat pop-punk songs, rather than their (bangless) followup Pretty. Odd. Which featured less upbeat-paced songs with lots of non-rock band instrumentation (even periods at the ends of certain songs that IF they were in Rock Band would totally make you bored for about a minute.)
Cause, it totally wouldn’t work if they did that…wait :smack:
That probably would have been my answer if I had the first idea how computers worked (other than little pixies running around inside once I pressed the on button) and therefore knew what this mystical “source code” was.
As far as I can tell there has not been a single Led Zeppelin song for either series, even in downloadable content. I’m not a big Led Zep fan, but they should really be there. Whoever’s holding that up (and I’d bet that it’s Robert Plant pulling some kind of suck attack over money) needs to get over themselves.
Looking over the song lists for both series it’s kind of surprising how few major artists haven’t made an appearance. Hell, there’s even a Michael Jackson song on GH:WT (which amuses me as tygre guessed that that there would never, ever be one because of song rights). Right around the time I was thinking, “It’s strange that there aren’t any Beatles songs on Rock Band,” Harmonix goes and announces an entire Rock Band Beatles game.
Anybody I’d suggest would be welcomed with open arms by about me and three other people–well, maybe a bunch of people in Canada would like to see a few songs by Sloan in there. But I’d like to see a couple of songs by The Flaming Lips, too, just to mess with Wayne Coyne’s head a bit.
Basically the software and programming that make the stuff look and work like GH/RB. It can’t be that hard, as there are tons of pirate songs out there that were done by smart teenagers.
