Whether the Daily Show really screwed up here or not–no, it’s not funny that somebody’s put out a headline “The Daily Show Tortures a Camel in Madison,” which is “no joke.” If I was Jon Stewart, I would be pretty pissed off, actually. A lot of people are going to see that. A bunch are going to watch the video but not realize what’s going on.
A camel tripped on fence and what was intended as a small gag ended up instead with a camel with its leg stuck in the fence for a bit instead. Sorry, I don’t see the funny.
Now if someone was riding the camel who directed it into the fence, then you could at least talk about the camels sexual endowment because everyone would be saying; “Hey look at the schmuck on that camel!”
How did the Daily Show screw up? I mean, it’s totally apparent that the handler screwed up by letting the camel get too close to the fence, but how did the Daily Show, as a whole, screw up?
Did anyone ever hear-was the camel OK? He could have EASILY broken his leg in that fence.
Yeah, I should have known better. An foot insulated from the effects of hot sand is probably better insulated from the effects of cold than many mammals.

I’ll admit, I came in to defend The Daily Show, didn’t want to believe they “tortured a camel.” So I watched, watched again, then saw the leg clearly caught in the fence.
Still, *true believers *will remember this as the time The Daily Show Tortures a Camel. Any chance The Weekly Standard is going to issue a retraction/correction/apology?
Makes me wonder if that person think it’s censorship every time a director calls, “CUT.”
Plus there’s a separate video of that same camel at the same event linked from the same website of the camel walking around just fine.

What’s weird is that the Weekly Standard blog posting links to another video of firefighters and bystanders helping the camel to free its leg from the fence. The guy narrating this video even specifically mentions that the camel’s leg was caught in the fence, but the Weekly Standard posting doesn’t mention that at all.
The camels were full of snow and ice ??
