Dijon Warlock beat me to it with the Santo Gold infomercial. I used to seek it out on TV when it was still airing. It was so bad and bizarre, it bordered on being art. I wish I had it on tape, so I could relive my memories of it, and to prove to others that it existed. The links Dijon provided only hint at the oddity of this thing; but it’s interesting to see the “true” story behind the whole enterprise.
I believe you’re referring to Greg and John Rice, who also briefly co-hosted a syndicated program known as “That **** Quiz Show”, which is described in the linked article as follows:
