My father needed a little help with this, so if you could please post anything you know…
He is taking the ASE L1 test, and is lookign for a good study guide. He’s tried Barnes and Noble, but they didn’t help very much at all, as the questions on the test are different from the information given in the books. Also, when he gets the results from the test, they don’t tell him which questions were incorrect, and so he has no way of correcting his mistakes. If anyone has taken this test and passed, or knows of any resources he could get a hold of, especially online, please let me know.

When I took the L1 most of the questions were on a “composite car” which was a 4 cylinder DIS speed density injection system. The questions were either of the here is a set of scan tool reading, what is wrong with this picture, or here is a set of tail pipe reading, again what is wrong with this picture.
If you can read a scan tool, and know gas reading, you can pass the test.
One word of warning. ASE is queer for distractors in their questions. I recall on question where the problem was the car was running rich [high HC, high CO, low CO2] The scan tool reading showed that the ECT showed a cold engine, but the intake air temp sensor had a reading coresponding to a 165 degree C intake temp. Too high an intake temp would not make the car run rich, but the ECT sure would.
