That was terrible
Ah, I’m not disappointed. I thought, “Surely, someone will have posted something about terrorists.” To my amusement, after randomly clicking on a set of “signatures”, I scrolled down to find, “If she continues to sing, the terrorists have won.” Oh joy. And then someone said we could use her singing as a WMD. Hahahahaahha! Whoops, I just went back to look and the only reference to terrorists on the page I already viewed was a short sentence blaming the Simpsons (both of them, not just Ashlee) for terrorism against the US, saying it’s their fault that terrorists hate us.
Umm, okay…
What’s really funny is that I have zero doubt that some people are signing this thing thinking that it’ll actually have any effect whatsoever on the Simpsons, the record company, MTV, XM radio, etc. No one cares that Random Internet Dude thinks Ashlee Simpson “SUX DONKEY C.OCK!” Really.
Nor should they. She (and they) are providing a product that there is a demand for. There are people out there who like her and/or like her singing and/or want to be like her, and they are buying her product. I for one (and apparently I’m the only one) have no problem with that whatsoever. I’ve heard people complain that she’s taking money and success away from more deserving artists, that she’s a “manufactured” star, etc.
Well, for my money, so what? Twelve, thirteen and fourteen year old girls aren’t going to buy songs recorded by some weathered 48-year-old musican who’s been paying his dues all these years. And most of the most popular products in this country are products that have been manufactured.
Ashlee Simpson is a commodity like any other. She’s the female version of teen idol that has been around at least as long as rock music. Has anybody heard some of Fabian’s schlock? Or that of David Cassidy or Bobby Sherman? How about Justin Timberlake? What’s wrong with making clothing that appeals to the 9 to 14 year old demographic? What’s wrong with television shows aimed at kids that age? Nothing. It’s no different with her. She’s simply selling music and an image that kids like and want to buy. No biggie!
It is to me when the product is clearly NOT what it is being packaged as.
She’s not a musician and clearly not a very good singer. She’s being sold for her looks and her name.
The 9 to 14 year olds will get into anything if left to their own. My daughter raided my CD’s and found all kinds of non-manufactured music she enjoyed. There is no reason the music business has to make milli-vanili types when there is an odvious overflow of good REAL musicians in the world.
It dilutes the industry.
Yeah, it’s the way it is, but that doesn’t mean in have to enjoy or accept it.
If her Lords & Masters are allowed to tell everybody that she’s wonderful, why can’t we tell everybody that she’s horrible?

The dollar is mightier than the petition. Who gives a damn about 200,000 signatures as long as the bucks are rolling in?
When the cash flow ends, so will her career.
Exactly. No amount of signatures would make them give up something making them money.
Well, while she’s doing it, maybe we can make her feel our pain.
Actually, I believe I read that same commentator, but the point was that folks who are willing to cheer when someone get’s hurt must really be exposed to something quite horrible to boo in such large quantities.
She’s not being marketed to just teens, she keeps showing up on late night shows and adult venues? SNL, the Tonight Show (at least twice), the Orange Bowl and numerous others. I am definitely sick of her being shoved down our throats. The “if you don’t like her don’t buy her cd’s” would be fine if we could actually avoid her that way, but we can’t. It’s like she’s stalking us.
I don’t quite get her. She’s obviously not talented. She’s not especially pretty, at least with that hair color, and she looks like she has a really bad dye job. The photos of her I’ve seen as a blonde show someone much more attractive than the girl in that video clip, but still only standard Hollywood pretty.
So if she’s not talented and she’s not especially pretty, why is she famous?
I ask the same thing about Paris Hilton, who doesn’t even have an album to her credit.

Okay, so I watched the first episode of her new season on MTV last night.
But I also like to watch train wrecks and like to be informed on things I criticize.
The way they spin this show is just disgusting, period. The first episode shows her preparing to go on SNL. She does all the rehearsals and all is fine. Then they start splicing in little voice overs of her saying how when she woke up that morning her voice was “real scratchy”. And then they edit it some footage that was taken who knows where or when of a doctor saying “you have severe acid reflux” but they edit it in so it looks like she visited the doctor that morning. Damn, the spin and editing they’re doing makes politicians look honest.
Then there’s some other scene where she’s looking through a notebook she scribbled in and drew little hearts and pictures and says to her friend “Oh, this is the notebook I wrote all my songs in.”
BEEEEE! ESSSSSS! You wrote none of the songs on your album. Some guys who do it for a living got paid a bunch of money and wrote them for you. Lyrics and all.
Just because you hung out with them while they were going through their creative process so you could get co-writing credits doesn’t have me fooled that you had any part in it.
You represent all that is fake and dishonest in the music industry and should be shunned because of it.

Btw their father is a really supposedly a very scummy character. He’s not molesting them scummy mind you, just doing anything to make a buck scummy. Anyway, I wouldn’t be surprised if he held Jessica over their heads to leverage them to promote Ashley more.
