200,000+ people have signed the petition for her to shut up.
Where do I sign?
Yeah, it’s horrible how they’re being forced to buy her CDs and concert tickets and… what? Oh.
I’m pretty sure most people at the Orange Bowl didn’t go to see her.
One commentator pointed out that football fans are the kind of folks who cheer when someone get’s hurt, so they’re taste in music can’t be all that great.
I don’t particularly like the girl (except on a primal level) but that is sort of harsh.
That only happens in Philadelphia. Granted, it shouldn’t happen anywhere, but most football fans hate to see players get hurt, even ones that play for the other team.
Is she truly that bad? I’m not sure if I’ve ever actually heard her sing. That implies to me that her presence isn’t as pervasive as many other horrible singers or groups (Creed, I’m looking at you) that are or were absolutely unavoidable.
Gets??
Here’s a clip of her at the Orange Bowl - it’s only the last few lines of her song, because the clip is meant to showcase the booing, but those few lines are definitely a representative sample of her performance that night.
It happens in legitimate sports as well then? Philadelphia was once home to ECW, the largest hardcore wrestling organization in North America, and it’s renowned for its bloodthirsty fans and unfriendly crowds.
I read somewhere that the booing occurred not because of her singing but because she, as a USC fan, was shown in a video clip on the big stadium sceens cheering USC while she was singing from the stage and facing the Oklahoma side of the stadium.
But in every sporting event I’ve been to, the fans will cheer a player coming off the field with an injury, regardless of which team he’s on. The majority of Philly fans do so too, but enough of them are classless louts to give the city a reputation.
Sheesh… you act like you’ve never watched pro football.
Irving, however, had a reputation as a complete and utter arsehole. Spoiled, miserable brat. Maybe the fans reaction was tasteless but this is still a free country and the handwringing by the likes of ESPN smacks of hypocrisy.
Simpson is a manufactured popstrel who has been marketed to the hilt and provided a platform due to collusion within the industry (marketing & record companies with direct ties to radio and music television). Payola was just the basement and not the ceiling of corruption within the music industry.
I’m delighted that she is being pillored because she genuinely has very little talent (I can walk 4 blocks north to Schuba’s on Belmont and Southport and here some really talented musicians) and more light needs to be shed on this sort of thing.
here = hear etc.
Her singing at the Orange Bowl sounded like one of the bad American Idol auditions.
She’s still human, for crissake. Just don’t buy her album if you don’t like her. If she doesn’t make money for the record label, she’ll go away.
She’s a human who’s clogging up my TV screen. As she’s in the public eye, there is no reason that we can’t express either our distain or, if it exists, respect for her.
Not by choice, no. Your point?
