What physical sensation makes you feel good? It can be anything, quirky or otherwise. For instance, I will start with the sensation of putting q-tips into my ears right after taking a shower or a bath. I love and am addicted to that feeling of swabbing the old ears out right after bathing.
WHat about you?
I’m retired. The physical sensation that makes me feel good is waking up in the morning, glancing at the alarm clock - and drifting back to sleep.
burying feet in hot sand.
Peeing when I really need to.
That sounds amazing.
I’ll go with a good scalp massage. My favorite part of a haircut.
Taking my hiking boots off after a long walk.
Stroking my dog.
Feeling a cold drink on a hot day run all the way down to my stomach
When the barber puts hot shaving cream on my neck and straight razors’ it off.
Crawling into a bed where the electric mattress pad has had time to get the sheets and blankets nice and warm. Soooo toasty.
Rubbing the old lady cat’s tummy when she grows her winter coat–she feels like a mink coat. A warm, purry mink coat.
Having my back scratched (you ladies know the place, right where the bra straps rub all day). Mmmmm.
Right after I cut my fingernails or toenails, I like how the newly uncovered skin feels. And scalp massages.
Sweat rolling off me after a run.
Yeah, and the release of defecation is a good feeling too, especially when you are delayed in some way getting to the crapper.
Oh yeah, that’s a really good one.
Oooh, hot face towels too.
Open a spiralbound notebook and take your finger and run it perpendicular to the edges of the paper in the spiral. I’ve loved that since I was a child and I don’t know why.
You’ll be relieved to know that your Q-tip indulgence is not a sin!
Mine - the feeling of the sound waves traveling into my jaw from my violin.
My husband and daughter bought me an electric blanket and mattress pad last year. Climbing into bed when it’s already warmed up is wonderful. Before that I used hot water bottles and heating pads in the foot area, and that was nice too, but the blanket and pad is even better.
Sometimes I put a cotton knit nightie in the dryer before I get in the shower, so afterwards I have a soft warm nightie to put on.
I will rub kitty tummies at any time of the year.
And for cooling down, there’s nothing quite like some rather tart lemonade. Beer is good, I love beer, but lemonade just seems to really hit the right notes of sweet and sour.
Coming home, after walking my dog, very early, in a silent snowy city, to a roaring fire in the woodstove. It never fails to make me refect on the charmed life I lead!
After trekking, or camping, several days without bathing, to finally climb into a shower and emerge a cleansed being. It’s an awesome feeling!
running warm water over cold hands…
Hey, he said “aside from sex.”
I always feel much better after I puke. Really, any bodily function that involves expelling fluids or semi-solids makes me feel good.
Sounds that I can feel with more than just my eardrums are awesome!
Petting/snuggling the dog.
About anything involving the contrast between warmth and cold. For example, sleeping in a cold room under a pile of blankets. Another is putting on sweats straight from the dryer. I miss the wood burner in my old house.
I also love the smell of humid salt air in the morning.
