If you really want an answer to this question, you should ask it in the Pit thread. I’m sure that quite a few people would be willing to give you an answer.

I don’t think it was your OP per se’, that got it moved to the Pit. It was your defensiveness to the reaction your OP received. If you had accepted the responses as their opinion, then I highly doubt it would have been moved.
Your reaction to the responses was openly inviting a pitting, Asimovian just obliged them by moving the whole thread there.
That move was totally messed up.
He forgot to close the poll-they’re not allowed in The BBQ Pit.
The decision was not related at all to me being offended. I relocated it to the Pit because I felt there was no hope of a civil discussion taking place. Even posters who were making a legitimate effort to respond to the question as asked in the OP were struggling with it, and the thread quickly became about the poster rather than the question.
I am willing to be convinced otherwise, but my feeling right now is that the move made sense given the thread’s inertia.
I concur. That thread was an embryonic Pit thread and could likely grow into a full blown one in very little time. Moving it was the right thing to do.
Good move, imo.

It’s been a long day.
And most of the time when posters can’t stay on topic, the moderator just closes the thread.
You had a few thread shitters in that thread and you basically rewarded them by moving my thread to the pit.
It’d be one thing if posters had to really hijack the thread to make it pit-worthy, but this was pit-adjacent, at best.
You essentially proposed a situation that could easily be interpreted as having sex without the other party’s consent (and yes, I know that in this situation, she’d consented for the majority of the interaction).
That’s prime pit material if I ever saw it.
“Interpreted as”? There’s no other possible interpretation.
It was a topic that started out with a strong potential for going bad. And it did.
But people weren’t going off topic. They were addressing the topic just not in the way you apparently wished it to be addressed. From your point of view, that may be unfortunate but you have to accept that the OP doesn’t have control of where the discussion of a topic will go.

Well then I apologize. I offended a lot of people, and that was never my intent.
I’ll take this incident as a learning experience and try to be more thoughtful of my posts in the future. I sincerely feel bad about this.
