Ask the bad-luck charm.

Today I was bad luck for someone.

I asked for a lift home from work. It was raining and cold and 11pm.

It’s only a 3 minute drive away.

This person hasn’t renewed their road tax since november.

We got out of the car park, got round the corner, and then got stuck behind a waiting taxi…

…with a policeman stood right next to the left side of the car where the out-of-date tax disc is.

Naturally he spotted it. My friend got a £40 fine and has to pay his tax and pay it from the date it ran out (so totalling £140).

I would tend to blame the friend more than you… there’s only so long you can drive around with an expired road tax or registration or whatever before you’re eventually caught. You can’t expect to be safe forever! Sounds like his good luck ran out, not that bad luck descended.

Since I once got a ticket for having a registration that was only two days out of date, I agree your work pal was really pressing his luck and it’s not your fault. :stuck_out_tongue:
