Exactly how does Disney determine which films will be one of their “animated classics” and which ones won’t be. Lilo & Stitch, for example is one, while the Goofy Movie, OTOH, isn’t on the list.
I think the decline of Western Civilization actually began much earlier than that with the invention of bad comedys on TV(such as F troop and Gomer Pyle USMC).[/quote]
Sorry, the building of Disneyland pre-dates both F Troop and * Gomer Pyle USMC.* They are '60’s shows and Disneyland was built in the '50’s (but you knew that). So the decline of western civ. may still be able to be traced to the building of this Mecca of commercialism.
[Disclaimer] I love Disneyland, a truly great amusement park, and I have only minor difficulties with Disney as a whole (primarily the stealing of Winnie-the-Pooh and friends and the subsequent degeneration of their inherent goodness)–but the fall of civilization has to be blamed on something![/Disclaimer]
What is your favorite ride at Disneyland that isn’t there any more?
How many of the parks have you attended? (I’ve done 3)
What do you think is the lamest ride/attraction at Disneyland today?
How do you think the movies of The Phantom Manor and Priates of the Carribean will do?
Why are you so down on Eisner? He did do very well for a while and every studio has it’s streaks.
If you could be in any Disney film, which film would it be and which character would you be. (or would you want to be inserted into the film as you?)
Is it true that Cinderella’s cleaning thing was more of an OCD then we were led to believe?
The real answer is similar, but far more horrible…it involves the greater temperature and temperature conductivity of the shower water, and the parasympathetic nervous system on an avian’s retractable genitalia…
>:)
Anyway, I had a coupla questions of my own…
I’m told that there are only two animated Disney movies where both of the main characters/s’ parents are alive, and present the entire time. I remember that 101 Dalmatians was said to be one of them. Can you name the other one?
Is it true that Disney only canceled “Chip’n’Dale’s Rescue Rangers” and “Tale Spin” because of a clause in a contract with Fox that would have allowed them to broadcast the aforementioned shows if they had been produced past a second season?
How many people have died in the OTHER Disney theme parks, besides Disneyland? Including Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris?
Have they made any changes to Splash Mountain since I was there in 1992?
What’s with the stories about massive animal deaths during the establishment of the “Animal Kingdom” park?
So many question.I will get back to you on the big long Disney at the Oscars question when I have finished the research on it. I know but can’t seem to recall the correct answers right at this moment.Let me find my History of Disney book and I’ll look it up.
Next…
What is your favorite ride at Disneyland that isn’t there any more?I’ve never been to DisneyLAND so I can’t say,but as far as Walt Disney World(WDW) goes it would have to be Mr.Toad’s Wild Ride which disappeared in late 97 or early '98 to make way for The Many Adventures of Winnie The pooh ride.
How many of the parks have you attended? (I’ve done 3)I’ve been to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom,EPCOT,Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Pleasure Island.I plan to eventually attend all of the water parks as well as DL and DCA.
What do you think is the lamest ride/attraction at Disneyland today?Again…seeing as I have never BEEN to DL I don’t know.At WDW,however,I think that award should go to The Jungle Cruise.
How do you think the movies of The Phantom Manor and Priates of the Carribean will do? I hope they will do well. I love the Haunted Manor and POC personally. Two of my faves that I never miss when visiting WDW.I think with the right script and the right actors, they could do very well. However…if th e script is lame, not even t he best actors in the world would be able to save it.
Why are you so down on Eisner? He did do very well for a while and every studio has it’s streaks.
Yes I know that. I just think that Eisner was a wrong fit from the start and while he did well for awhile, he should have never been made CEO or whatever his exalted position happens to be at the moment.Walt was an innovator and a man who actually DID things instead of sitting on his arse greenlighting lame projects like Eisner.Einser has cut back (or so I’ve been told) on the number of Imagineers, which I think was his main problem.Imagineers are the heart of Disney and without them, well ya might as well give up.
If you could be in any Disney film, which film would it be and which character would you be. (or would you want to be inserted into the film as you?)Any Disney film, any character? It would no doubt have to be either Ursula in the Little Mermaid or maybe Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty. They are my two favorite ‘bad girls’ of all time when it comes to Disney.
Is it true that Cinderella’s cleaning thing was more of an OCD then we were led to believe?
OCD? Nah. She was probably just bored.
I tottaly agree, The one tjat started it all…
I went to disneyland every year of my life (drove with my family of 8, 14 hrs) until I was 21.
And I plan on continuing that tradition with my family

besides, the Jungle Cruise is great fun, depending on who your driver is.
The one I always avoided was the rocket ships, (I got sick) and the people movers…boring, although the storm trouper they added on top of the future land shop was pretty cool when you went by.
The People Mover is great for making out, though, while you go through Space Mountain. On the other hand, it also is responsible for many of the deaths at Disney…
