Tons of luck, EmAnJ!!
Update: didn’t work this month. I was one day late and supposed to test this morning, but at 4 am, my period showed up with wicked cramps.
So, on to our second IUI. We are both starting acupuncture and TCM this month, and I’ll be doing more yoga and meditation as well.
Have you had your progesterone levels checked at different times in your cycle? I know a friend of ours m/c at 5 weeks b/c her progesterone needed to be supplemented to hold the pg. She had known thyroid issues so they were on top of that, otherwise it would have slipped under the radar.
Yes, my progesterone has been tested multiple times and it’s fine. However, I’m going to get them to test my 7DPO P4 this month as I’m on a higher dose of Clomid and I’d like to make sure things are working properly.
Sorry to hear it. I have good hopes for you for your next try.
Can I make a teeny recommendation, EmAnJ? (I went through 8 IUIs before conceiving my son, BTW. Three rounds of Clomid.) My suggestion is this: wait the full two weeks before doing the pregnancy test. I know it’s hard to wait, but living your life in two week cycles of hope and worry is a hard enough roller coaster without the extra stress of testing too early and getting a negative, but not knowing exactly why, etc., etc. Oh, and avoid those internet sites with desperate women trying to conceive. I say this from experience – it can drive you slightly crazy! (I don’t mean the SDMB, though. This place is relatively sane. :))
My experience with infertility has an ironic twist. I am a lesbian, married to a woman. We tried to get pregnant with a known sperm donor at first but, and here’s the ironic part, the donor turned out to have sperm issues. (I felt pretty bad for him to find out that news while doing us a favor.) So the last two rounds were with new, anonymous donor sperm from a cryobank. And that worked out OK. My partner is now pregnant with our second, by the same anonymous donor. She only took 3 IUIs to get pregnant, lucky girl.
So together we’ve been through the 2 week IUI life cycle 11 times.
I think my cervix just crawled up into my throat.
Hi, I just did my iui on friday and saturday. Iam a surrogate using my own eggs the doctor put me on clomid 100g and than did a tigger shot. They had me stick some pills in there to thicken my urterus. I have three good eggs. They want me to take pt on my birthday for the sake of the family I hope it happens.
Translated for those uninitiated into Traditional Surrogacy.
I think ahe meant pregnancy test by the ‘pt’ actually.
Second IUI today. My husband’s sperm count went up dramatically this month - from 7 million post wash to 67 million! So lots of hope for this two week wait!
Got my fingers crossed for you both!!
Wow! Any idea why such a drastic difference?
Thanks!
Well, there are two possibilities.
Last month, two days before the IUI, my husband got whacked pretty hard in the testicles. I know that can cause some issues, but I didn’t think it would affect it THAT much.
Also, he’s been taking herbs this month. We both see the same guy - me for acupuncture, him for traditional chinese medicine. Perhaps that made a difference as well?
Either way, I’m glad for it! That drastically improves our chances.
Hey, good luck! With such good SA results hopefully this month is your month.
We had a BFN our IVF cycle this month, now need to wait a month before we can have another crack.
Good luck! Those numbers sound so much better. I hope the guys come through for you!
Also saw this yesterday and thought of you. Maybe knowing that your stress levels aren’t making a difference will help reduce your stress levels… it won’t make a difference apparently but it may make life slightly more pleasant
I’m really sorry to hear that. Was it your first IVF?
ETA: Cazzle, I did see that! It was posted in our paper as well. Interesting study - not a lot of people agree with it!
Just wanted to chime in again to wish you the best of luck for this round
Have you told your RE that you’re taking herbs? Many doctors will recommend not to do so, because the herbs’ effect on fertility is unpredictable.
I’m not taking herbs, my husband is. I’m just doing acupuncture.
Got it. Sorry; I misread what you wrote before.
