The existence of trigger points is absolutely supported by good science. They generally show up in the middle of a muscle belly, and are in the same locations on everyone. They’ve been used and taught for decades in accredited massage schools in the US, and for several thousand years in India, China, and the surrounding countries. They do have a very high correlation with the acupuncture points, but you don’t have to believe in chi to use trigger points. The most common way of treating them is to massage them if they are sore, and they tend to be more sore in people with poor posture.
Poor posture is much more common in people undergoing emotional problems, and so there is some support for the general concept of massaging specific points to treat emotional issues.
But, with that said, I don’t think you have the slightest interest in these topics, and are treating this thread the way some religious fundamentalists would treat a thread on gay marriage. Besides, trigger points, massage therapy, bodywork, and postural work are only very loosely related to the OP’s topic of choice. I’d tell you to start another thread if you want to discuss it further, but like I said, I don’t think you have nearly enough interest in the topic to discuss it at length.
