I have a question.
Have you been to see a doctor? You’ve been under the weather for awhile now.
I have a question.
Have you been to see a doctor? You’ve been under the weather for awhile now.
You’re welcome!
I have indeed seen a doctor. The don’t see anything wrong except for a little headcold. I’m taking a bit of cough syrup, nothing more than that. I have been feeling better lately, though.
Thank you for your concern.
You’re welcome. I’m glad you’re feeling better.
So, you mentioned that you are a Stephen King fan. What is your favorite book? What was your least favorite? Are you getting bored with your own thread yet?
Now stop that – you’re frightening me.
No, I just had an “On the Internet no one knows you’re a dog” moment and thought I’d ask.
I’m surprised you’re into Watchmen considering it was probably written before you were born. Has it been rereleased, or are you just buying the older stuff?
My favourite book, is most likely It. Even though most of his books suffer from King never shutting up and going on and on, this is a rare example of a longer book of his being good. The characthers appeal to me, the monster in the book has such interesting powers, nearly everything in the book was good. The only disapointment was the meh ending.
Worst book ever? DreamCatcher, for sure. The characthers are not beliviable, and the writing is stilted. I tried to enjoy it, but there was nothing likable about the story. The bad guys are sickening, and let’s just leave it at that.
I’m not tired of this thread at all. I’d appreciate any questions you have, and I would gladly answer them.
It is my favorite too, much for the same reasons you like it. I love the dry humor that King gives his characters. Who was your favorite character? Was there one you felt like you could especially relate to? Was the ending too corny for you?
I thought The Stand was really good, too.
I think my least favorite book was The Tommyknockers. I have Dreamcatcher sitting here, but I haven’t read it yet. I’ve tried, but I just couldn’t get into it. Someday I’ll tackle it.
Have you read the books from the Dark Tower series yet? If so, what did you think of those?
I know. Just joking around.
When a comic series is produced, and if it’s popular, they collect issues in a TPB(trade paperback) which is in more book sized proportions in terms of pages/binding. I read it in the TPB. The orignial watchmen comics would cost waaay more than the TPB.
Ah, you crazy kids…

Hmmm…
<realizes that he owns a complete bagged set of the originals>
<runs off to have them valued>
In regards to that cold/flu thing that is going around the Lower Mainland right now… it freaking wipes you out! I’ve had a little bit of it since spring break. Bleh.
So. I went to LA Matheson then Queen E. (Grad 83) Where do you figure you will go to Senior? Do you think Surrey deserves the bad rep it has (besides the car theft stuff… because ya know… stats don’t lie)?
We’ll, I’m going to LA Matheson right now. Unless something comes up and I have to move I want to stay here until I’m a senior. I like the people here.
I don’t think that Surrey deserves a bad rep. Something that really pisses me off is the fact that a guy got killed here a few years ago, and the media twisted it around to make it sound like surrey/LAM wasn’t a very good community. They interviewed some people, twisting around the quotes, using them to make it sound like LAM is a gang haven with lots of violence occuring. They made no mention of the fact that the guy got killed because he tried to break up a fight(which was over drugs) between two guys. One guy was graduated and not even from surrey, and another was on a suspension(I believe).
So, no I don’t believe that Surrey deserves the kind of rep it gets.
It’s cool to see another BC doper. I never knew there was so many BC dopers.
I’ve read the first three. I enjoyed all of them, the best would likely be, for me, 1, 3 , 2. I tried reading four, but the dialogue confused me. I think it was because it was in the style of the old west(IIRC). I’ll try to get it and read it again, so I’ll be ready for book 5. If you didn’t know, King has finished all of the DT books. Sounds exciting, but I’m worried that king won’t be able to give it a suitable ending. That’s the problem with a lot of his good books.
Y’all go post here too, 'cause you get to ask the other teenage guy.
I have a spin off of my thread… That must make me cool, right?
Right?
Of course you’re cool.
I didn’t know Stephen King finished all of the books for the DT series. Heck, I didn’t even know that #4 was released. I’ll have to go get it.
Why don’t you like the endings to his books?
You can preorder book 5 here.
This is book 4.
As for King’s endings, I don’t like him leaving the sotry openended. Like in Christine where
their is a report of a woman getting bitten by the compacted piece of scrap that was christine. Cue novel ending.
and in Pet Cemetary
Both Louis and Rachel get corrupted by the evil spirit. Cue novel ending.
Those are stories that I feel need to tell, if in case the Christine part indicates she comes back.
Thanks for the links. I guess I did read the fourth DT book. It’s been so long I forgot, which is pretty bad because it was my favorite one.
I see what you mean about his endings. He does just sort of leave his readers hanging. Maybe he’s keeping his options open just in case he would ever want to write a sequel.
So, other then Sublime, what other music do you listen to?
I like Disturbed, Beatles, Goo Goo Dolls, Nirvana, old Duran Duran, lots of other stuff. Those are the main ones.
Something I forgot to add to my gripe about King’s endings:
I have to say, with a novel like it, no author could write a suitable ending. If you were to make too weak, it would feel like a let down. If he decided to have some spectacular big “Every single chracther dies” type of event, people would feel he wrecked the characthers. Then that would create desire for him to unscrew a characthers in another novel, which i’d doubt King would go for.
King did an ending, a ending that would’ve been suitable if his novel had been more down to earth and less cosmic.
You are probably right. I hate when he kills off characters that I like. It has to be difficult finding some sort of balance between “real life” and the supernatural, though.
You like Duran Duran? Oy, you just made me feel old. They were popular when I was even younger then you.
They were my favorite group back then.
It’s been a month or more depending on when I answered it, so I’m wondering how has my advice panned out guys?
