Ask the MRA

Fuck it. Ask away.

Does the laziness evident in your OP extend to all aspects of your life? Have you ever made an effort to clearly communicate anything to anyone?

What the hell is an MRA? Meals Rejected by Angolans? Mighty Recalcitrant A$$holes?

What’s an MRA?

Google says it’s “Magnetic Resonance Angiogram”.

Urban Dictionary suggests “Men Run Amok”.

However, the whiff of martyrdom makes me suspect it’s “Men’s Rights Activist.” Which I believe is a new incarnation of PUA. Probably Gamergate fits in there somewhere, too.

Men’s rights activist? What rights do you feel you are being denied?

Magnetic Resonance Angiogram? Are you ever envious of human’s capacity for imagination?

Market research analyst? What’s the next “big thing”?

Mountain rescue association? What’s the most harrowing experience you’ve had on the job?

What’s your favorite color?

Men’s Right’s Activist.

What “rights” do you lack?

What does your activity consist of? Do you organize rallies and marches? Circulate petitions? Or do you just jerk off and whine?

Potato.

Orange.

I suffer from very severe panic disorder which doesn’t respond well to therapy or medication. I’m also profoundly agoraphobic. As such, I don’t really do anything. This thread may have been better titled ‘Ask MRA related questions to Chuck from Better Call Saul.’

P.S. - I do jerk off quite a lot, but only when your mother is otherwise engaged with swarthy dock workers.

What rights do women have that men currently do not have?

Do you harass people on the internet?

Me personally? None at all. However, on aggregate, I do believe men are often short-changed by Western society in the following ways:

1). Men get much heavier prison sentences than women who commit the same crimes.

2). Male domestic abuse victims in the UK only receive 2% of the sheltered accommodation available, despite making up about 30% of victims. There is also a prevailing attitude that, if a man hits a woman he’s a piece of shit, whereas if a woman hits a man…well, he must’ve done something. This is unfair.

3). Men and boys are falling farther and farther behind in education, yet nothing substantial seems to be being done about this.

4). Custody.

5). Healthcare spending on women’s health issue significantly outweighs spending on men’s healthcare issues, a fact that undoubtedly contributes to higher cancer survival rates for women and greater longevity.

That’ll do for starters, I think.

No.

Do you have evidence for any of these claims?

A Mod warning in 3…2…1…

Claim 1: http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2144002

Claim 2: More than 40% of domestic violence victims are male, report reveals | Domestic violence | The Guardian

Claim 3: Generation of boys 'being failed' by the school system | Schools | The Guardian

Claim 4: Private Site

Claim 5: BBC News | HEALTH | Men 'need more health care'

If anything is being done to address these disparities, I’m not aware of it.

Meh, I’d be okay with a warning so long as Crotalus gets one for his “jerk off and whine” comment.

I’m going to second this question, then. What does your activism consist of? What makes you an activist and not just someone who’s read about some areas of inequality and had a general feeling of, “Hmm, that doesn’t seem fair, someone should do something about that.”

I mean, it’s been pretty well proven that black people get tougher prison sentences for the same crimes. That’s not fair, but just because I know that and accept it as an unfortunate truth doesn’t mean I would describe myself as a BRA.
