Hmm, business idea: Amateur porn studio. People pay, professionals light, film, provide sets, edit, etc.

Sort of a glamour shots for couples, only with hardcore fucking.

I definitely recall reading about someone doing just that. The business does exist.

One thing I’ve always wanted to know (and if this has been asked already my apologies as I haven’t read the whole thread) is: Do the people filming those scenes ever get to be “part of the action” (if so I’m assuming it’s off-camera)?

One director, Adam Glasser (aka Seymore Butts), had a short run with a reality/documentary TV show called “Family Business”. He would occasionally be the star of a video he directed.

If you are asking if porn directors ever get to have sex with porn stars, I would say probably. If you are asking if the wardrobe guy or camera man get to I would bet less often. I am not in the porn biz, but I am pretty confident in this WAG.

Why do the blowjobs in modern porn go on for so damned long? When I first watched porn in the '80s, blowjobs were “foreplay”. Sure, they went on longer than what most guys were likely to get in real life, but it was still clear that the oral was just a preliminary to the fucking. Now, in nearly every video I watch, I can watch five minutes of blowjob, get bored and start fast forwarding … and 15-20 minutes into the video the girl is still sucking the guy’s dick.

Part of my objection to these interminable blowjobs is this: I want to see the girl’s naked body. But they often remain clothed for half the length of the blowjob, and even when they finally get naked, there are only so many non-awkward positions where you can clearly see their whole bodies during a blowjob. If the common kneeling position is used, the guy’s body blocks a lot of the view; the girl is sitting on her heels so you can’t really see her ass; if she’s using her hands on the guy then her own arms block the view of her tits.

I’m with you on this. B.J.'s have never done anything for me either on-screen or in person (yeah, I know - I’m almost certainly in the minority on that). As soon as one starts (on-screen) I try to skip past it as quickly as possible. In person I don’t bother with them at all.

I wonder if Mike South comes around here anymore? I just came across a quote from him in VICE Magazine that echoes some of the things he’s said here:
